Delaney already at the club but with U-18s. Be a big step up, imagine he’s helping in preseason with the younger players in the squad. Can see it being someone either unheard of an ex Cov is player.
Delaney lives in the same village as me randomly.

Just wondering what people’s thoughts are on Delaney? Think he’s done a good enough job of the U18’s to then be Head Coach? Not saying I know either way, just don’t really know much about him tbh.

Here's a thought. An experienced CM who can act as assistant player manager / captain

So MR talking about becoming 'ELITE' and the way that's done is by promoting somebody already at the club... weird

in what way is that a strange take? MR states that we need to improve the quality of the backroom staff, specifically referring to the assistant manager role and then w (supposedly) promote our u18s manager to the role, does that statement and that hire line up? No

Are you suggesting that Robins doesn't rate the u18 manager appointed less than a year ago?

I'm suggesting that an individual who has zero assistant manager experience cannot be described as an elite assistant manager? Seems a fairly logical view, although I know you like being contrary for the sake of it 🤷‍♂️

Depends. People internally will be far more aware of his skills than someone just looking at his job title. And let's be clear, this is just a rumour at the moment and not from a concrete source.

Seems odd that we advertised it for a very short period of time before appointing someone internal (assuming that is what happened). Anyone any thoughts on why we would do that? Not entirely sold on Delaney? Pretty comfortable with the fall back option, just resting the waters to see what is out there? Club policy?

As has been said, this is just a rumour. However, if it is true, there might be some rule about having to publicly advertise even though they knew they’d hire from within all the time.

It is a strange take really.
You’re intimating that Robins was specifically talking about the role of assistant manager, he wasn’t, he was clearly stating that the club are striving to create an “elite environment” that gives the players the very best opportunity to maximise their full potential.

Im sure there is some form of employment law that all positions have to be advertised.
Not my area of law but I don't think you do. It is certainly the case for public sector jobs though and policy in many other organisations. I agree with KG82 that it feels like a token effort (assuming the rumour is true) so perhaps it is just something CCFC do now. 🤷‍♂️
