New badges on the scoreboard (1 Viewer)

Were the new badges put up on the scoreboard last night a hint of things to come?

1. An elephant head that looked as though it should be on a bottle of african beer,
2. a phoenix that looked even more constipated than the Barclays Bank eagle
3. a sort of roadrunner chicken
4. and a sort of grayish sandcastle.

Maybe SISU are going to do a Hover-like new badge next season?

Well they've already done the retro badge for this year. I'd be happy for that, no reason not to stick with that one, some people scream the current badge its our heritage, but in fact it was only adopted in the mid 80's by the looks of it from this site which shows CCFC kits worn, before that it was the Hill era elephant on ball stuff and before that I'd guess a 'Bantams' logo. http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Coventry_City/Coventry_City.htm

The rationale to change to a simpler design is to save money, Spurs & Arsenal have done that in recent years, presumably for the same reason. As long as they consult & do it sensitively, unlike the stupid way they tried last time they attempted to bring in the rampaging elephant crap.

They did redesign it under Ranson to reduce the amount of colours and did a good job.

Rebranding must cost loads though. Surely if they're changing the badge that's an indication of them not going anywhere soon

I'm about 80% sure that they will change the badge because I don't think the images have anything to do with a new kit. If it does get chaned I will be so annoyed

Yeah, it looked like the cov uni logo to me. That's what I thought whn I saw them anyway - apart from one which did look a little like the barclays logo!

Anyone got any images they can post? We're due for a new home and away kit next season so could quite possibly be a new badge with redesigned / cost efficient variants of the old badge.

i spoke to SISU earlier, and the said that they are trying to keep the old badge, and have put the work in to make that happen...

However, if the old badge is not here anymore, there are funds available for a new badge, and Fisher will be staying on another month and leaving no stone unturned to bring in a new badge in the next badge window...

sure the images are supposed to get people excited about what it could be but it just makes me nervous about what could be about to be unveiled!

Looking at that I'd imagine it could be one of three things:

1. a reinterpretation/update of the classic badge, presumably using less colours
2. a new kit using the classic badge, but also incorporating some element of these designs somewhere else on the kit (like the 1997-8 kit which I quite liked!)
3. a new badge using one of these images, but with a 'fan vote' to choose the image used, to try to give it some credibility


Of course I could be wrong, but these three ideas spring to mind.

I think option 1 is most likely - although hard to judge without seeing the completed design could look great or absolute shit. Wonder what the new kits will be like next year - stripes, hoops, navy, white and the colour of the away kit.

Just a bit surprised that they've not kept this seasons badge as Its gone down well and I prefer it to the old badge which is looking dated.

Ok... The redesign of the Spurs badge was awesome. The redesign of the Arsenal badge was ok. The redesign of Stokes badge was brilliant.

If this is what they're going for... They will surely expect trouble. Do people not learn from history?

Yeah, it's on the club shop bit on the official too - to be honest I wouldn't be that bothered. Loads of teams have done it and if those images above are it, I don't actually think they look too bad - it's all the elements of our badge, just with less colour.

I prefer the current retro badge to be honest. The usual one seems far too cluttered.

It doesn't have to say who we are, people should know by the badge.
