I've got a feeling we're going to lose Sheaf this window, so i think we really need a decent CDM signing, whilst Rudoni/Eccles/Torp/Allen with Sheaf looks strong, take Sheaf out of that and i think its our biggest weakness
Yeah. I’ve been thinking this too. I’ve wondered if this Might explain him being unavailable at the moment?
Anyway, although he’s our best midfielder/player, I’m not too worried. An extra £15-20mil on top of what we’ve got already wouldnt be too bad.

Both sides want a deal though don't they? United need it to free up some FFP headroom
You would imagine so, pure profit for United being an academy graduate. A quick search of Fulham transfer rumours and no mention of Sheaf since May. I think the only other club linked was Ipswich, but they have already spent big and are heavily linked with Jack Clarke so makes you wonder how much they would be willing to spend

I don't want to lose Sheaf but i trust us to be able to lose one player and replace no problem. We'd obviously need 2 CMs if he left and we might be able to take a look at the full back positions with the extra money too.
All that being said, i don't believe he will leave.

agree i've not doubt we'd spend the money well, its just the timing of it really... could be another Hamer situation and we are left short until January when pickings are low and expensive!

I thought Saddlebrains had said the Sheaf situation had been sorted ?.
Wasn't it along the lines of give us another season, if we don't go up he can leave

I really can’t see Sheaf leaving now. All signs are pointing to us building a squad to challenge this year so to then go and sell your best midfielder in August when the season starts would be a terrible decision and one I don’t think we’ll take.

I hope that’s the case. Maybe my paranoia/skepticism…we’ve got all these good players and none of them have been sold!

I'd take Sheaf leaving for 10 mill+, we know it'll be reinvested and would allow us to bring in a replacement and another in CM. Assuming Vik and Hamer stay at their respective clubs.

He’s worth much much more than £10m

Doug wouldn't let him go for as little as that. If he went ( and I doubt he will ) he'll be pushing towards £15M-20M.

Highly doubt he's leaving this summer. Would hedge my bets on him leaving next summer though if we didn't go up.
i think thats guaranteed assuming another good season

the only thing keeping me positive is the price tag we can demand as no need to sell, may put others off... and i imagine the type of person he is he wouldnt cause issues in the dressing room

I can't see him leaving now unless it's to a top Premier league club for really silly money.

I'm sure he can see what's happening here, and he will know what has been done is to get us promoted and to survive once there.

He won't want to do a Hamer and drop straight back down.

No I think what was said was that Sheaf has accepted that if the club don’t receive the right offer then he will stay and won’t agitate for a move. However if the right offer from
A premier league club comes in for him he’d like the opportunity to test himself at that level.

OK OK Pete we get it, you're doing alright for yourself and you've gone to Florida on holiday.

Just seen someone in a full Bidwell kit swimming past my overwater bungalow here in Tahiti btw 😉
For the avoidance of doubt, the above post was a light-hearted joke, not a dig at Pete!

We all know he's actually in Skegness anyway 😃

Interesting one with Sheaf.
We’ve had the opinion he’s ok with staying at least one more year, won’t down tools. Seeing the calibre of player coming in might help.

On one hand if a £20M bid came in knowing next season he can go for nowt you can understand it but on the other, DK has made it clear the intentions of this season so letting him go contradicts that.

Looks like with the rumours around Madsen etc, getting a replacement before they let Sheaf go.

He has 2 yrs on his contract I thought? So why would we let him go for nothing next season?

Part of me hopes the CM we go for is Kyprianou - what I’ve seen of him I really like and I’ve been clinging to some hope we do have an option on him. He seems similar to Sheaf but I feel like that’s the part of midfield we need help especially in - with Torp, Allen, Rudoni and somewhat Eccles being more naturally forward thinking players.

Great age profile, knows the English leagues, potential to grow in quality and value, seems a natural replacement for Sheaf if he doesn’t sign and we miss out on promotion.

Also I don’t want him going to Sheffield United who I’ve hated since Chris Morgan.

Weird, seems like no one else thinks he is. He was supposed to have gone to the PL for £20m+ by now, everyone was sure of it at the end of last season. Yet those that were so loud have turned into crickets as the summer has gone by.
In your opinion , what is he worth

Kyprianou is in the last year of his contract, which might make him more affordable, but Peterborough usually want top money for their players.
