Oh are they?
Are you sure sports direct would be the one, they arent in a great state to open a third store in Coventry.

I know it's a sports shop I don't know what one, I just assume its sports direct because there is a JJB at Gallagher so I don't think they would open one at the Arena

Could well be a Jd sports as they are doing really well, plus one of the two in town has closed. Whether it closed due to the big redevelopment over the road, or if it's to open new larger store?
I'll be surprised if it isn't pets at home as that is pretty much the only national channel of pet stores, but again we already have the large one over in canley?

It's between Sports direct and JD it definitely won't be JJB and I can't see it being anything other than Pets At Home either, Canley is the other side of the city so it makes sense to open one near the Ricoh

Well I'm completely wrong.
A 30,000 square ft sports store called decathlon?
10,000 square ft next home store.
6000 square ft just for pets store.

That's surprised me! Ive always said they need a sports shop up there but not one like that, and I thought next home would be the biggest shop out of the lot

Well next home currently locates half a floor on the current store, so 6000 sq for is a fair bit bigger.
I'm disappointed that it's not a more main stream sports store, although the pet store has 8 or so stores across the midlands including one in Nuneaton.
Decathlon say they want to open in July, they better get their skates on then!!

It was a telegraph article for the info on the sports store and I found out the information for the sizes after searching arena Tesco expantion.

That's surprising as they currently have a costa outlet within the Ricoh, also the Starbuck is next door.

If the sports shop wants to sell Winter Olympic ice rink events products they better get their skates on.

Not sure if you know guys but Decathlon is the worlds largest sports retailer. They only have 12 in the UK at present but will be expanding over the next few years.

Decathlon are reknowned for selling over 70 different types of sports products that are very good quality. Nice to see something different on this park rather than the same boring chains.

It's a very good shop, It reminds me very much of a cash and carry, stack it high sell it low. Went to the one in Merry Hill (i think) a few years ago.

The hotels they want to build by car-park C, but nobody has the money at the moment - they want 2 hotels, a cheapo one and a 4 star one.

We have a decathlon by us, it's a pure sports store and is huge. If you need anything for sport it's great and has a section for each sport, so you can buy everything you need for golf from 300 tees to the clothes and clubs etc. also does a lot of outdoor kit as well, bikes, camping etc.

They should priorities the jobs in these stores to the poor people who are going to be made redundant from the ricoh!

Borders was excellent, the problem was being next to Tesco's who can pritty much under cut everyone else on everything.

Yes, absolutely true.

Really miss Borders, pity we couldn't have something like a W.H. Smith there, if you want just a newspaper or magazine, you have to queue up in M & S or Tesco's.

Was also told that M & S wanted to have a Home Store there instead of Next but Tesco's wouldn't allow it.

The amount of times I just went into Borders for a mooch and came out with £3 Tom Waits albums and big books about skyscrapers, what a time to be alive.

So Decathlon is more like sporting equipment than tracksuits and trainers? I'm intrigued in that case.

Yeah Decathlon does sell the textiles but unlike JJB, JD and Sports Direct, they sell good quality sporting products. Not sure how the other retailers can call themselves 'sports' when they focus on fashion and cheap and nasty brands such as Dunlop, Lonsdale etc which Sports Direct have bought and have no quality. Decathlon is an IKEA of the sports world > go in for one thing and walk out with table tennis nets which stretch across any standard table to pop up tents in 2 seconds flat. Good stuff.

I've heard they will be opening in mid October. They currently have a pod in the Tesco mall to find out more!

Has anyone noticed there is a gap free next to the new floor shop?
Anyone know what is going to be there?

In the Neighborhood! One of my fave all time songs.

As for the spare unit, it was in the CT that it was vacant and they were looking for takers for it,
