I think part of the reason no one complained was because the information on the finances was harder to get, less well understood, and not widely reported - it is different now 14 years after he left. Football finance just wasn't as big of an issue back then. It never crossed my mind to wonder where the money was coming from to pay the type of players we had.
Then of course by the time the realisation came it was too late.
Ultimately, but basically the other Directors had such a light touch that a lot of shit happened before they started to scrutinise the details and that was only when they began to realise the capital in their interest bearing loans to the club were no longer safe. (in my opinion).
