I think it's a choice rather than a rule here, in our division last season Wednesday, Huddersfield and QPR had stripes/hoops on the back, maybe a few others. Cynic in me thinks teams go with the panel because it looks so shit blank that they'll get a few extra people paying for printing.

Edit: new Stoke has stripes, think they were blank last time

I had a name on the back of the late 90's shirt with the circle on because that did look shit left blank.

Plain back panel I'm fine with.

From the bloke who told me the kits (all sky blue with a pattern, white away, blackout 3rd) but that remains to be seen so not sure how much to put on this. ...

"EON have stepped in after a second season of Monzo fumbling apparently

Kits will be revealed soon

But if you want one put it this way......... "il learn from the lessons of the kit debacle last season" doesn't seem to have been heeded by himself".....

Love how it's becoming fact that the club have somehow fucked up with Monzo, based on basically zero evidence, and that EON is a downgrade.

They're a household name brand, an international company with their HQ based in Coventry, who have a track record of sponsoring in football and at the stadium.

Has everyone forgotten that we're only a few years on from having sponsors like a local estate agent and a fucking christmas tree company?

eon's good.
i would love to know what the deal with them is, compared to what the monzo deal was going to be. how much backpedaling did dougie have to do.

No I agree, EON is a great sponsor

But being almost mid June, only just landing the sponsor and a race against time to have said sponsor on the kits before the season AGAIN is poor

Or we took our time getting a good financial deal and some fans can't wait a couple of extra weeks

Like we took our time and landed a fantastic financial deal last season?

Oh my mistake, he got greedy again last season off the back of a play off final appearance and his weirdo check the hard drive brother bailed us out leading to no kits for fans until September.

Eon/ Monzo, whoever, King has done a lot of things right there's no doubt but IF the kit release is a shambles again then that's pretty poor from a commercial viewpoint, outright stupid from a customer view

So the retro kits are no more?

I enjoyed some of them, and still wear my 20/21 home shirt often. Was really hoping to see a real classic spin on the black/yellow away kit (ASICS? Early 90’s) and the criminally underrated 92-93 away kit.

Unless @Saddlebrains contact is plying him with red herrings…

I wasn't talking about last season. Clearly that was a shambles. You automatically take the negative stance though because you don't like doug.

King of Shaves was confirmed as our new front of shirt sponsor on 14th July - a deal which alongside agreements with Coventry Building Society, XL Motors and G&R Scaffolding, has generated record kit sponsorship revenues for the Sky Blues

The preorders were an absolute shitshow but was it a commercial disaster? Maybe it was but you could argue it wasn't

The Sky Blues 2023/24 home shirt has become the fastest selling shirt in the Club’s history.

Last years home shirt sold around 2,000 shirts in the first two days of sale, however this years shirt has sold 2,400 shirts in the first four hours of sale.

Elsewhere, the Sky Blues 2023/24 goalkeeper shirt has sold 142% more than in the first day of sales last season.

As they've started revealing the sponsors maybe a sign the kit release is quite near.

Then like this for the away kit if Saddlebrains is right about the white away kit. I'd be happy with both, think they both look decent

Didn't E.ON sponsor one of the bars/lounges at the CBS before the first time we left?
In 2006, E.ON UK announced that it was to be the sponsor of the FA Cup for a four-year period. During this period, the competition is formally called "The FA Cup sponsored by E.ON".

The company was the energy partner of the English Football League, and sponsors the E.ON Lounge at the Ricoh Arena, the home of Coventry City F.C. Football Club.

So looks like the delay was down to Monzo for last year and possibly this-so not down to Doug but down to Coventry City supporting Monzo CEO Gary Hoffman.

Is Hoffman playing silly buggers to make Doug look bad? Seems like it to me.

Why is it Doug’s fault if a fucking sponsor lets us down at the last minute apparently two seasons running ?

So you're saying it's not Doug but it's Hoffman? Interesting

Monzo are still a very chaotic startup type organisation, so I wouldn't be so quick to assume if a deal was ever in play that it was the football club that fucked it up. To my knowledge, Monzo haven't done any sports sponsorship before so I'm sure they had no idea what they were doing. If Hoffman was the one pushing for it, if I were a board member or c-level exec I'd be really questioning and challenging whether there's a conflict of interest there and whether the deal is truly in Monzo's interest. It's quite hard to justify expenditure on sports sponsorship because the benefits are really hard to measure and prove. Young companies don't like spending money on these sorts of things for good reason, when they have a million other under-developed parts of their org and business, sports sponsorship can look really frivolous.

But this is all speculation on top of speculation at this point...

E-on makes sense if true - bigger company than Mono, UK HQ in Coventry and already in partnership with CCC.
