I just really, really do not want Lampard. If we get him, I’ll back him, but I’d happily have someone like Steve Cooper over that phoney.

Can’t believe people are laughing face my comment on cooper.

he led Swansea to the playoffs both seasons there.

completely turned Forest around in his first season and got them promoted in the playoffs despite being in disarray.

kept them up in his first season.

yet they laid lampard for getting Derby to a playoff final and getting Chelsea to 4th.

for our club, Cooper would be miles better

This may be a controversial take but imo, Cooper is a manager that would’ve been sacking Robins for given his track record getting 2 teams in the playoffs and one promotion.

However, Cooper has just been sacked and highly doubt he is interested in the job so soon. Additionally, we’re presumably toward the end of the hiring process so unless Cooper seeks out the job, there’s little chance in this happening. I doubt his wage demands would be affordable either, which would be around 28-40k per week. He was on around £1.5m a year at Forest at the start of 23/24 and that’s a starting point for the Leicester deal more.

Looking back at Lampard’s Derby team, it was a good achievement to get to a playoff final. Retrospectively the team he had was strong but were comparing that the competition of a Grealish led Villa, Bielsa’s Leeds and WBA who had just been relegated. It wasn’t as strong as some have made out.

In any case, for the Championship, Lampard could prove to be a diamond in the rough because his stock is low after his Everton and 2nd Chelsea spell.

If it is Lampard, I really hope he shuts up a lot of people in the football world as a whole.

Lampards predecessor got 6th the season before.

Coopers achievements are much more impressive.

It’s a shame in someways he wasent sacked earlier as I do think he would have been a good fit for us.

The year Forest went up I thought they were well organised and fun to watch in attack. Plus he’s achieved three play off finals which is a very impressive achievement.

Still think Lampard will be good here based on what I’ve read and listened to especially if we can get him a good director of football (Steve Taylor would be a great choice).

On the original question, decent sky sports EFL commentator said on football insider that Frank signing on Friday and was going to be announced after the game at some point. Hoping to see it all done on Monday just so we know

So what? It was his first season in a packed league.

Swansea were in receipt of parachute payments when Cooper was there and were paying Ayew something stupid like £80k per week. He left before the going got tough. At Forest, his work was impressive but Forest had an expensive team and Prem loans just as Lampard had at Derby.

I’d prefer Cooper but he’s probably out of our wage bracket which is the pertinent point here. If we’re talking about other unaffordable managers we may as well talk about Potter or Moyes…

DK said the process would take as long as it needs Cooper can take 2 weeks in the sun and be back for the Christmas period. I would offer him the terms we have offered Frank and it's up to him.
We are localish to his last two jobs so location might help him take a little less.

I disagree massively.

I can see a situation where we pick up a pretty shit manager and watch Robins succeed some place else.

Your post is far too naive.
Only one way to find out. Robins always seemed to do well with us and struggle elsewhere. It will all depend on who he brings in as his next number 2.

There’s certainly risks on our end, the relationship with Robins was always a ‘match made in heaven’, right person and the right club.

Do you think Frank Lampard is going to cost less than Steve Cooper?
Yes because I don’t think Lampard will be on more money than our highest earner.

Lampard was on about £1.75m at Derby whose wages were higher than ours back then. To reiterate, Lampard’s stock is low. He’s probably not going to get Prem wages from Day 1.

I have a feeling Lampard won't be asking for mad money, he must know we are giving him an opportunity back into being taken seriously as a manager. He's can't be short of a few quid from his playing days so I doubt it's the driving motivation currently.

However I do think that people like Clement or Morris would not come cheap

Whoever it is we get behind him 💯. Would be nice being announced today but let RC pick the team at Burnley, better still give RC the job he’s got them playing some really good football ?

It's been going on for so long that At this point I'd be happy if DK promoted one of the lads who serve beer at half time to head coach
Aint going to happen!!!.....DK already on thin ice - if he starts fecking around with the amount of time people queue for beer at half time...he's finished IMHO.

Everyone gets a free beer and a chicken tikka pie as a peace keeping offering? But they would have to start making the pies earlier as Steve no longer working behind the bar, Steve's busy making the final tweeks to the starting 11.

Lampard will be on more than Robins was.
