Yep! My exact argument too. As if people would stop visiting Buckingham Palace or other royal residence.

in fact, if these places were all vacant and the public were given more access, I dare say they would be even more popular as tourist destinations.

I can't help but feel there would have been less people turning up from all over the world for the Royal wedding...if there wasn't any Royalty there :S

Yep, but as I say, if these palaces were all opened up to the public, we would get even more people turning up to see them.

Fair enough, I knew it was sizably more ! Still makes me wonder how they come to ridiculous figures like that though.

Be cheaper to knock it down and build it again, is part of the cost problem that they want to occupy the building during the work rather than moving out to make the job easier.

What, the tradition of killing each other and inbreeding to lay claim to the throne?
Meanwhile 34yr old 'normal' folk go round stabbing old men to death because of bit of a bump between their cars.
So the Royals are human after all?

Not sure when in 1933 that photo was taken ? If before June 30th { Night of the Long knives } then the Nazi's hadn't done anything too extraordinary up until then. Hitler's real push for power came in the second half of that year, before that the party with it's new marching style and saluting were a bit of a novelty.

OK...hands up those of us who have NEVER done the Nazi salute. I'll bet most have mockingly used it at some point...hence this really is a non-story.
Ed vii is widely known to have been a Hitler sympathiser, especially before the war so it's just not a big deal at all is it?

I am no fan of the royals but it must be a slow news day to drag that picture out, I am sure most people have pictures from their past they now regret maybe even the editor of the sun or even its lovely owner.

I think it was a Jesuit priest that said" Give me a boy until he is seven and I will show you the man". I'm not suggesting the queen was overly influenced by this episode but I believe young children are very open to extremist manipulation. Most extremist groups have youth movements attached and for that reason alone this should not be seen as a non story, it does however say more about the adults in this picture than the children. Finally whilst not believing that the queen is a fascist or racist she is married to one.

be careful that when you put your hand up that it goes straight up just in case somebody is about with a camera.:)

The fact we still have a monarchy in 2015 is depressing. What's even more depressing is that some believe it is their right. I presume these same people believe that the Royals rule us by the grace of God.

I see the thick working class tory of this forum has already been making his excuses for Elizabeth Windsor and her cronies.

Can we bury this subject now?

I'm genuinely surprised people care about this sort of nonsense.
