Friargate going tits up - could the plot between central 6 and the ring road (old car show room / tax office) be , a suitable site CCFC could spare the councils blushes

Nowhere near big enough. And anyway IIRC that bit is planned to be residential so will probably be built anyway.

I like the way you are thinking.......reminds me of a gag,

Teacher says to class there are 3 crows on a farmers gate and the farmer shoots one of them. How many are left?
Little Edgy says miss miss there aren't any left.
Teachers says why? He replies one is shot the other two would fly off.
The teacher says the answer is two but I like the way you are thinking!
Little Edgy says Miss here's a riddle for you.

3 women eating ice lollies, one is sucking the lolly slowly up and down,
one is just licking the ice lolly
and one is biting the ice lolly.
Which one is married?

Teacher takes a few moments to think and replies
The one sucking it up and down?
Edgy says no its the one with the wedding ring but I like the way you are thinking!

You would think Tim's 3 weeks equating to now over 3 years was actually calculated using an interstellar calculator.

Are people still believing that we're looking for sites still? Be honest with yourselves, they're not looking, they never had any intention to either.
don't worry there are fools on this site that swallow every thing that tiny tim tells them! and no I am not a council lover, living half a world away the smoke and mirrors are not so effective.

Near the train station, use the pubs in town, would annoy king henrys school, where is the negatives in all that
For a start SISU don't want you in pubs anywhere. They want you in the stadium drinking their beer & eating their pies.

It is much more likely to be on a brownfield out of town site.

...onwards & upwards PUSB

Even better site?
Build it big enough and you won't see the Ricoh from the M6.
Big enough for training facilities as well and becoming available soon !!
Get in quick Tim ?

Isn't that the same one you mentioned before that is for B1, B2 or B8 use so couldn't be used for a stadium and / or training ground?

Who in their right mind is going to build a new stadium for a Division 2 bound side. God forbid it all goes tits up in Div 2 and we end up playing Conference football in 18 months.

But can't that be changed after all couldn't build on green belt but their all doing it now?

Wouldn't mind a stadium there, although there may be outrage it isn't in Coventry.

Disclaimer: I know it wont happen though, so I don't need it pointing out ;)

It won't happen. Fisher and sisu have never come clean on a new stadium. Nobody would believe them even if they built one; well not until half time in the first match played there. But I would like a stadium and other facilities there. We are hunk most city fans wouldn't quibble if fantasy became reality.

New thread so another chance to prove TF nonsense..
It's in discussion and can be influenced.
This illustrates the problem, there's enough ways to make Fisher look stupid that are grounded in reality without suggesting they build a stadium outside Coventry on land they would never get planning permission on as they don't meet the usage criteria.

At this stage you're talking about minor changes. NBBC have published their final draft and that's out for consultation. This isn't a stage at which they're going to make major changes like whacking a football stadium on land already assigned for other uses.

Move the shopping to Friargate, build a stadium and cinema by the market, you're welcome CCC.
Suggested similar before. If CCC were really forward thinking and prepared to do something radical a city centre stadium would work. They could have done it adjacent to the Friargate work and moved the displaced businesses up to Friargate.

No chance of our council doing anything like that though.

I was hoping Tim would give the excuse as to why he couldn't but thanks for sorting.

They spread themselves too thin. Belgrade Plaza, CCS and Friargate could be one awesome development instead it's three half arsed ones each reliant one one big tenant (hotel, department store, RICS respectively). As soon as the big tenant drops out it all falls apart and you've got another building site lying empty.

A 20k stadium could give us a decent music venue as well. Something the city is crying out for.

Joint stadium with Birmingham City near the NEC modelled on the Allianz Arena in Munich, but smaller. Not what I want, but logical if you want to cut costs by sharing and get a big sponsor deal. Transport good from both sides.

City centre would be my favourite, but I don't see happening.

But who is going to pay for this stadium?

Don't think the council would go anywhere near it.
They got burnt with the last one they helped to build.
Or do you believe sisu or CCFC would pay it?

God knows. I'd like to see them call Sisu's bluff though. Free up some land and go "Here you are", just to see what excuses Joy comes up with then.

I think Birmingham City were talking of a new stadium.

A stadium near an airport and a train station with room for a huge car park and next to the A45 and offering facilities that maybe the NEC doesn't have. Shared costs and investment from two clubs. Stadium advertising rights if in a prominent position. Great geographical location.

Must be attractive to some investors.

I no longer see us ever getting a decent sized stadium on our own - no matter who owns us.

We will otherwise end up at somewhere like the Butts, Nuneaton or Hinckley.
