The Australian kid who has played 10 minutes all season. Both Robins and Lampard said the same thing; talented player but his body isn’t robust enough to play meaningful minutes yet.

CM and RB are positions of need, agreed. That doesn’t mean we’re not working on signing players in this position. As things stand, we don’t have the personnel to play the system we want to play and that’s a problem.

How many games has the Rangers guy played ? Seems to have been injured a lot too.

Bit of difference between playing at decent levels and for his country and comparing to a young kid coming directly from Australia. We have 3 regulars all currently injured and cant play the system we want to hence signing players to help with that.

The problem is you talk in absolutes, you always say a signing is done and ready to be announced. No one’s doubting you get info before others but you could just say ‘we are in talks’ rather than acting like it’s done and dusted - I’m not just talking about this one but there’s been plenty other, I.e the 48 hour thread

Yes, if we want to play with proper wingers. If Lampard wants to play Haji as a striker, we have 2 first wingers and that’s it.

Why are we so desperate to play wingers though? Won the last 2 with 3 at the back and 2 up front and can see us sticking that way for Watford/Swansea/Leeds by which time you would expect EMC at least to be back. Been unlucky with injuries but left of the three is probably our strongest position. Not sure I see this as a priority at all.

You’re not selecting the team. If you want to play 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 and you don’t have the personnel available to do that, it’s a problem.

5-3-2 has served a purpose and given us balance against tough opposition. That said, we have 3 quality players that are wingers in EMC, Wright and Sakamoto.

Lampard may want to play a 3-4-3 if he likes the 3 CB and WB shape. He doesn’t have the personnel to do that either.
