Hi there,

Long time lurker first time poster, thought I'd post in this forum first with my stances on everything!

Looking for lively debate with fellow Coventry fans - the family one gets too heated!!

My stance

Previous Regime - the ones I blame for the this whole mess... Bryan Richardson's let's take a punt, is the biggest disaster in sports history

SISU - enjoyed it when they bought (or overspent) on players... Boycotted Northampton although I supported their views, just not their actions... Really want rid now but can't see who'd take the club off their hands.

The Council - don't trust them at all and dislike them a unhealthy amount, sold our stadium in order to spite SISU with what seems no regard as to how it will affect Coventry City - same with the academy.

Wasps - admire their opportunism, and can't really fault them - I'm a bit bitter over them coming in and getting more bitter over the academy! - don't really like rugby so I'm NOPM with them (probably dislike them unreasonably - but hey... They took what should have been ours)

NOPM - accept their reasoning despite not agreeing with it, that's their opinion... Can't stand the same people moaning about no players coming in

The football - we've all got players we get angry seeing (I don't boo in the games - it's counter productive, I like to moan and grumble to any that will listen) current hate figures Lee Burge and George Thomas

All in all looking for lively debate and hopefully happy discussion following 42 victories for the Sky blues PUSB!

I tried posting on the Telegraph forum, that was too hostile for my liking - i.e the black and white if you say something bad against the council/Wasps - you're a SISU plant...

I keep hold of the glimmer of hope that we'll win the league at the start of every season, it'll soon go if we lose 6-1 to someone again

Instead of discussing Wasps, Council, SISU etc (you'll have plenty of opportunity to do that on here, jesus wept), how about we talk about Dublin, Huckerby and Whelan instead?

The good old days.

Although I am extremely offended "Roland Nilsson" hasn't made your 90's Prem Players themed username.

Does anyone else find it odd that all these fans of 50 years that have joined SBT feel the need to include their stance on the politics in their first post?

Welcome onboard, hope to see you on the football threads soon!

Welcome.

Now...the cynic in me wonders why those who come on here for the first time, always choose the off the field matters for their first post.

I don't think I've ever seen someone come on here and say 'Hi, long time lurker, first time poster. Now, wasn't Freddy Eastwood a waste of money' or 'How did we get money for Gary Borrowdale?!'.

Always about the politics of our club.

Welcome anyway HDW. I hope you provide some sanity in this sea of mental-ness.

I grew up with that team haha! Gave me false hope as a junior. If I'd have known we'd be in this much trouble, I'd have followed another relative and support another Midlands team... (not the villa)

Still I have good memories, Roland was class - but I was too young to appreciate top class defenders, it's only the last 10 years, I've come to enjoy his influence

Always loved the flair and unpredictability of huckerby and Whelan. Dublin was just pure class - how he never made the 98 World Cup team I'll never know

Fan of 20 years haha!

I've noticed with the off field discussions it's become a bit of a war zone... On forums and speaking to other fans - decided to lay my cards on the table straight away

Still as someone else mentioned, how did we get money for Borrowdale?

Two questions before I decide if I like you....

1) who would win in a table-tennis match.... Tony or Grendel ?
2) Do you think you could make more posts in a day than Otis (without drinking Red Bull)?

1) closely run thing... Got to back the more agile man though

2) doubtful, although if I go into rant mode it could go on for a while - my family have learnt to spot it early and tune it out

Welcome looking at your first post interested in what players SUSI overspent on. As for the council selling the Ricoh what are you suppose to do if your main tenant moves out hang around until Fisher sees sense and comes back they could not afford to .as for the academy talks do turn up don't send notes saying we want this and this if you cant give it us not talking ,Council can only take planning issues into consideration. Players agree on Burge please give Thomas a bit more time this old one thinks he might turn out alright ,once again welcome

I meant overspend in general, in hindsight It looks as though the money wasn't there, kinda like a smaller version of what we did in the late 90s

Regarding the council, my mistrust of them goes all the way back to when we built the Ricoh, I've always felt they had is over the barrel and took advantage of us at our lowest when the Ricoh was built (original rental deal) and now it seems it's destroy SISU at all costs.

Burge I've never liked, when I first saw him I doubted his ability and always thought Allsopp was a better GK - kinda felt vindicated at the Peterborough game where he got beat by a floated free kick down the centre.

With regards to Thomas I'm not sure what he offers, he doesn't seem to have progressed at all since he made his debut. He's young enough to prove me wrong though - at the moment he just frustrates me. Then again in Wilsons big season I said I'd call it a good season if he gets 10... Not always the greatest judge of a striker!

Just think with Thomas the ball he needs are ones he can run onto nobody seems to want to play them..

Even when he's been straight through though, like against Swindon he doesn't look like scoring - unfair comparison but that was the major difference between him and Armstrong. When we played Wigan last season, as soon as he went through you knew it was a goal

Thomas needs to learn to run accross the defender instead of along side him. He's not strong enough to go shoulder to shoulder with 6ft+ centre halves. Gwet in front of them and he'll get free kicks or be clean through.

Great name
Great strike force
Great days

All though didn't they all come from the "biggest disaster in sporting history" :)
