New Stadium Announcement!!!!!! (1 Viewer)

Why have you mentioned me? I had nothing to do with the forum statement and my first post on the topic is that it was a bit vague and no actual site identified.

No offence intended. I just meant that Grendel was arguing with the intelligence of someone who'd just drove to Dundee in their bare feet.

Perhaps, or perhaps not, but it means they clearly didn't think it was nonsense.

I hope to one day be a billionaire, but if 'Big' Dave Boddy announces that him and the University of Warwick are going to make it happen for me, I wouldn't rush to say how delighted I was unless I thought they actually meant it.

Signing a deal to come back to the Ricoh (if you recall when this news was leaked there was still a prospect of returning for August 2020) does not disprove that a new stadium will be developed.

Granted, it does look pie in the sky and there is plenty of scepticism about it in the thread. I'm not sure if you follow football but this announcement came off the back of the award of the L1 title, which would have impacted the reaction.

There seem to be a lot of people who's first thought was to go on about the new stadium when it was announced there was a return. The bit they seem to miss is the apparent break clauses...

It's almost like people are lining themselves up for an excuse not to go. "Well there's no new stadium so I'm not going".

it’s obvious you have an agenda on here

Where in that does it say "we fully believe there will be new stadium?" It says we look forward to seeing plans and hopefully it involves the fans.

Exactly! Which isn't really something you would say if you thought the whole thing was nonsense, as one person suggests is what most people thought. In reality, much of this thread is people who are excited (delighted even!) at the prospect of a new stadium and leaving the Ricoh behind for good. Fair enough, but others are much more skeptical, and I've always been in the latter camp.

I think my very first post on this thread was pointing out how giddy everyone was about all this in the midst of the promotion excitement. It looks a lot different in the cold light of a relegation battle.

I think it’s fairly obvious he doesn’t follow football

Yes, people excited about the thought of a new stadium and a lot of talking about the pros and cons of it. Saying "Looking forward to seeing something" doesn't mean you fully believe it. It could also mean the opposite...

It is miles away from people planning their view of the pitch.

Not sure what point you are trying to prove (again)?

The 2 aren't mutually exclusive you know?

I think most are in a similar camp to me, excited about the prospect but at the same time skeptical it will actually happen.

Exactly. There's probably only Frank on Twitter who is fully believing it is 100% going to happen.

Most people thought it was nonsense

The forum statement is I assume one or two people
Triggered

what is your problem?

64 people quickly lor liked the statement

Overwhelmingly the comments were agreeable with a few questioning some aspects and one or two, probably you questioning whether it was the opinion of the forum

I don’t expect everyone to agree with everything Mark and I have tried to do but this disingenuous nonsense is really frustrating

I don’t see why it’a nonsense in hindsight.

I would fully expect the vast majority on here agree we should play in coventry and if we had a stadium of our own at some point that would be great.

tbf we should have moved into this 3-4 years ago.

Of course! And it's also a decent indication that people think it could happen, right?

No it isn't? I'd get excited at the thought of us winning the champions league but I don't think it is going to happen.

You are trying too hard to push something that isn't there.

So assuming reports of this new Ricoh deal are accurate, are we supposed to believe that our new stadium will take a minimum of seven more years to complete?

Does anyone seriously think this is still happening?
IF it ever does it won’t be at Warwick Uni.

Still at most 5% think the new stadium will come off. It needs such a passion and overwhelming desire that I just don’t think Mr Fisher and Ms Seppalla have

If it was a mixture of some on here behind it I’d be more hopeful but it’s not. Also on balance if the return is anything like has been proposed that sounds like the viable plan for the foreseeable future

Is there any talk (now were reasonably stable for 7-10 years) of a sale

You are trying too hard to push something that isn't there.

So in summary, this thread you started was a chance for everyone to get excited about something that most people thought was nonsense and would probably never happen? Is that how you think I should be reading it? Could be that I've dramatically misinterpreted it, but that honestly isn't the impression I get reading it back.

The thread was started about news that came out. People were excited at the thought about it and the prospect of it. Things were discussed about the pros and cons of what had been said.

Much the same as people were excited at the thought of going round Earlsdon for beers if we played at the Butts but didn't actually think that was going to happen.

As I said, you are trying hard to push something that isn't there. As usual.

Fair enough. I see it slightly differently, but there's not much point us arguing round and round about it, when the posts are there for all to see.

No but you have to think why would the club or Sisu tell anyone about it unless they could get something out of it

I’ve heard loads of rumours and I mean rumours from business people I know who were thrown out of the Ricoh by Sisu back in the day.

As I’ve said many times on here my sole reason for getting involved was to stop clive And oggy from parroting that ccfc needed to get back to coventry when they couldn’t due to an alleged indemnity clause. We won that one. They stopped doing it

Further and having spoken to every party everyone wants a successful football club playing in coventry so why isn’t it happening?

Well the reason I figured was because all parties couldn’t stand one another. Well that’s the same in most families so we’ve tried to talk and persuade over a now impossible length of time people that it suits everyone and it’s time the fans interests were prioritised by ccfc Sisu ccc and wasps and it looks like tomorrow some of that, all be it by a tiny tiny amount, will have been worth it

Great news if/when it's made official, absolutely hated the drive to St Andrews. Will be very interesting to see if we ever get an update on the new stadium now, might just get quietly dropped. A 7 year commitment (if that's accurate) is such an improvement on all the 1/2 year periods of uncertainty we were going through before.

Yep suits both

Sadly not a chance in Coventry. A slug would win a council vote if you put a Labour sticker on it. Stuck with the likes of O’Boyle and Maton and their stuck in the past view of building factories for however long they want to be there.

Yes, but all you'd need is a few of the current corrupt councillors to own land/houses in that area to get their support - we already have a least a couple of labour councillors known to vote in dodgy ways over their own property interests.

Personally I could never get excited about any talk of a new stadium at any of the many rumoured (confirmed or unconfirmed) sites over the last many years. Not sure how long it has been now? That goes for my family and circle of friends, who are all sky blue. I think the majority of Cov fans know it was always just a tactic by SISU to apply pressure on whoever owns the Stadium. Also to appease the FL. I did used to be surprised and feel sorry for those dragged into it such SCG groups and now Warwick Uni. Wasting their precious time. I suppose also me now posting this on the matter when it will never happen 😂😂😂.

I don’t think you’ve read the whole thread. The crux of SBT argument was that people want a new stadium and that the statement is proof of that and that was the view of the forum - he referred to the 64 likes as evidence of that to sustain his point - the nonsense statement was referencing the stadium build comment he was referencing
