Gyokeres being linked with Newcastle, now that would be a move you couldn't turn down.

Well yeah, but I can't see he would get much game time if they want to be serious contenders for the Premier League title.

He could do with being a starter somewhere.

Don't you remember how well Callum Wilson did when playing off Leon Clarke back in the dark days of League 2? I think he could play off Vik the same way, after some ongoing improvement ...

He would get some game time, Alexander isac rates him very highly being a fellow Swede.
£25 million would be a drop in the ocean for Newcastle, so not even a gamble.
Even if he came off the bench for the last twenty for Wilson etc he would surely take that.

Yeah, I think he definitely would do and would see it as a challenge to rise to. They’ll also be playing CL football which would also help persuade him.

Yeah, I get that. It's just that he's still very rough around the edges isn't he and not the finished article.

Tearing up the Championship isn't necessarily an indicator of success in the Prem, is it? But other examples were cited yesterday where that trend has been bucked (although more often staying with a team after promotion - Wilson, Toney, Vardy, Bamford to name a few)

Murphy gets game time for Newcastle... and the last striker Howe signed from us did ok with the step up.

He'd obviously get more game time at plenty of other clubs, but it'd be very difficult to turn Newcastle down.

Massive club, big wages, Champions League football etc. Even as a 3rd choice striker he'd find it hard to say no to that. Plus Wilson is injured a lot anyway!

Equals 99% budget gone on CW's wages !
If he stays fit though …

It does sound a little ridiculous on first reflection but then they paid 25 mill for a 30 year old Chris Wood. If FFP is limiting their rebuild scope, then a similar fee for a 3rd choice striker with scope to develop, while they invest bigger money in more urgent areas, is not such a crazy idea. He'd get game time too, Isak and Wilson are regularly injured.

Would be a good move for all involved, not sure I can see it happening as Newcastle will be looking more in the tried and tested market and he still has a question mark over his head at that level.

Is it Anderson, the young attacking midfielder, wouldn't mind him on loan for a season as part of the deal, looked good in the prem.

Newcastle would be a good club to grab fringe players from and I think we would be attractive to players to come too.

In any other season would be a great move for him and Newcastle, but with the World Cup next year he needs a stepping stone to a low end Premier club where he's the main man then move again. Hopefully we stick in an add on clause.

He’d get game time at Newcastle if for no other reason CW will be on the treatment table at some point.

Saying that though I can see him starting anyway and I can see him fitting in well with Newcastles style. Hate to say it but I can see it being a perfect move for him. Hopefully Newcastle are willing to dig deep into their deep pockets to buy him.

One consolation is if the Newcastle talk becomes fact Vik would have gone even if we had won Saturday.
