Robin's is chasing an answer from Willis as to whether he is going to sign or not. Has somebody lined up by the sounds of it and it is all in place in case, as exepcted, he doesn't sign.

If we had collins we'd be in the championship by now with the chances we had last season he would of had 30 goals

Hoping Willis has been holding off until he knows where we’re playing next season

Could we afford the tribunal?

Edit: actually. As they have an option and would need to offer a new deal to get compo, how does that work? Would it count as terminating the contract because they didn’t take their option? Funny one.

You'd think that an option that isn't executed isn't an offer, so he's free to go. CCFC might just negotiate with Wolves a nominal fee to avoid tribunal?

Would either be
a. Wolves don't take the option so get him for free
b. Wolves take the option and we agree a fee
c. Wolves take the option and loan him back

Do nt get the sudden love in re Shipley.
Rarely wins a tackle, 50/50s are never won.
Passing is woeful most of the time, generally over hits balls..
Numerous occassions does nt track back with opposition players.
Has a reasonable shot, I ll give him that.
For a central midfielder he can nt be described as a ball winner and we ll be truely fucked if he s a play maker..

Might rock the boat with this comment but it’s only fair to say his performances over the last 4 games next to Kelly have passed Tom Bayliss’s previous 10 plus games.

I’m not saying he’s the answer but has been a reliable squad player who isn’t seen through the same tinted glasses as the higher rated Bayliss.

Theres a reason that Bayliss is highly rated, hes a very good player. Shipley just is nt.
All a matter of opinion of course but I ll go with what I watch and hear football pundits say.

Yes agree there is very good reason to why he’s highly rated, we witnessed it last season and glimpses this season.

Fact remains Shipley came in and stepped into the hole and did a creditable job at times and achieved the same L1 goals return as Bayliss in far less match minutes.

As I say because he’s less talented of the two his performances are brushed aside and reiterate he’s been a valuable squad player last season and this.

Which football pundits have you heard say Shipley isn’t a good player?

Bayliss isn’t a centre midfielder I would say he’s a number 10 if we do sign bright where does bayliss feature next season ?

If Willis does go, and Davies stays I don't think we need a replacement, and would rather concentrate on filling other positions (right back for example). We will already have Davies, Hyam and Rose, with Drysdale, Thompson & Williams looking to make the step up from the under 23's.

Non as he s never mentioned in the same breath as a good player.
Hes an average player who is better suited to League 2 at best,
Who knows he may improve but not to a standard we need to gain promotion.

Bayliss has just turned twenty. He's still growing. As he gets stronger he'll become a better cm. I still think him and Kelly are the pair I'd have. Shipley has been so much better centrally though.

I agree, but It could be that if we sign someone else, Davies leaves. Depends on the quality of the player available.

Apart from anything else, Robins will want an quick answer from Willis, because it will determine whether Davies stays or not.

Bayliss has been quality this season. You lot are nuts! He has had rare dips in form (really rare) but honestly he is classy and central midfield is DEFINITELY his position.

Shipley also looked good there - he has the potential to be a Kelly like player and also chips in with some goals but just because that's the case doesn't necessarily need Bayliss needs to be bombed out.

There is an argument to say that with Shippers and Bright we can do without Bayliss but really, that's two players covering what Bayliss was providing us (mostly) on his own in the first half of the season. I would love to keep him for one more year.

But we don’t play with wingers?

Nope and Hiwula doesn't play on the wing. The concept of 4-4-2 is so entrenched on our football psyche that we can't compute that each player isn't just playing a position in that system!

I appreciate your point but I disagree somewhat; at times we do play with width and the wide players are asked to play more as a traditional wingers. Equally other games they tuck in and are asked to play an inside forward role. Different games, different positions.

The concept of 4-4-2 is definitely not entrenched in mind. I’ve seen and played in more games where teams are not playing 4-4-2 than I have when they are, however it doesn’t mean that certain “traditional” positions are not used in different formations and tactics.

Bayliss has just been knackered for a couple of months and needed the rest.He sometimes makes bad decisions but also does things that most players in league one couldn't even imagine.
The kid is absolute quality.
