I mean, yeah, but it doesn’t solve the CM conundrum for me. Looks to play in a far more advanced role. We’d still need another.

Agree doesn't look like the player Stamanic was going to be disrupting play. Maybe he can do some of that but the highlights overlooked it? Could we sign both? What's this lad rated at money wise? If Doug did sanction 2 more top clsss midfield and a lwb we literally would have the squad to take all the cups and league seriously. I get the sense there will be more effort put into all cups this season as Doug loves the chance of TV money and a glamour tie. If we have the depth no reason why not.

Possible Departures - KVC Westerlo

⬇️ Vice president Hasan Cetinkaya on the situation of 🇩🇰 Nicolas Madsen and 🇺🇸 Bryan Reynolds.

🗣️ Cetinkaya: "If a nice project presents itself, we will certainly not keep the door closed. After all, we want to make Westerlo a club where players can take an important step up in their careers. That has to become the trademark of this club. Just think of Foster, De Cuyper, Nene, ... Madsen and Reynolds have enormous potential. I am convinced they can make it in one of the top 5 leagues in Europe. We are trying to challenge them further here to reach their maximum potential."

Cetinkaya is also Gyokeres's agent. Wondered why that name sounded familiar.

i think he’s just the sort we need now that we’re playing a flat 3 instead of a 10. Let Sheaf play the pivot and disrupt the play, he’s the best in the league at doing so…

Rudoni and Madsen can play either side of Sheaf to give us balance offensively and defensively. We have Torp for this aswell. If we ever need to play 2 DMs or Sheaf is unfit then Eccles is here for that and even Jamie Allen

With the current team with no more incomings, I think it'll be Eccles who plays as a pivot and Sheaf more as a 6 so he can disrupt play and get interceptions and win tackles/duals higher up the pitch. Exactly how the midfield was setup v Leeds (H) but with Rudoni rather than COH who is probably better suited to that 8/10 hybrid role.

It probably suits Eccles more as his strength is progressing passing from deep rather than in the final third.

I think we’re definitely onto something going after 6ft plus players so much. We’ve lacked a lot of physicality in recent seasons.
Could easily be looking at a starting lineup with 7 of the 11 over 6 ft. That's with various different 11s too.

It's the new footballing 'meta' Real Arsenal and Man City have been targeting taller, more physically dominant players too.

Pep and Arteta are both all in on “duel winners”. Players who win their tackles, dribbles or come away from pressure situations with the ball. Very encouraging that it looks like we’re doing the same thing.

We could end up on occasions with a midfield bench of Eccles, Torp and Allen with arguably Lati as well.

That’s some squad depth 😊

Has Palmer upset you?

Sounds like deals are in place and waiting for Vik and Gus to move
SL season starts next Friday. It would be logical to move Vik on before then and start the season with a settled side.

Huh? Why would Palmer have upset me? He’s been been deployed either as a 10 or on one of the wings? Not as a 6 or and 8. Like saying has Bidwell upset me, because I’ve not included him as a winger or something.

Logical yes but its out of our hands. If we can get the 2 players we need by 1st September i cant see how any of us can complain

Not really, Palmer can play the AM position in the 3 man midfield.

Just seemed a little odd that you'd not included him as an option.

Most of last season Sheaf was playing in the more advanced role with Eccles as the most defensive midfielder. I would be surprised if it changes this year.

It’s not an AM position in a 4-3-3, it’s a tactically more disciplined position the AM role he played in a 4-2-3-1. Generally, I feel he’ll mostly play either LW (4-3-3) or AM in a 4-2-3-1 if we switch things up.

Unless he has a standout season, Palmer will likely leave as a free agent in the summer.

There isn’t an AM position in the current set up we’ve been using this pre season bud, we’ve been deploying a flat 3.
