No balance in our XI? (1 Viewer)

It is the lack balance in our team that makes us easy to play against and predictable.

These are the key attributes needed to be a decent L1 team:

- A commanding and organised keeper
- Two towering centre-halves
- Two full backs that are solid and can cross a bit
- One nasty, aggressive midfielder
- One goalscoring midfielder
- One direct and pacey midfielder, who runs at people
- One strong striker who can hold the ball up
- One 20-30 goal a season striker

In addition a team needs three to four leaders on the pitch.

Who do we have that ticks their positions required attribute? Reda? Nouble?? That's it really isn't it!!

A lot of our players are too similar or have attributes that aren't affective at this level (Fleck?!), there isn't enough balance or variation.

It will never have balance - 6+5 won't work...................

We needed 2 commanding central midfielders , a decent striker , a pacy winger and a good goalkeeper . Instead we bought in 3 wingers being used as central midfielders , a left back thats 101 being asked to play wing back , a left sided centre back which was a needed addition , and 4-5 strikers who are just not getting any service .
he stuck with the same midfield 2 that were bypassed so often last season .....bravo

What we need is
1 decent goalie
1 decent right back that can attack and defend
2 towing centre halves that are also decent on the floor, and will get the odd goal, also need to be leaders on the pitch
1 decent left back that can attack and defend
1 pacy right winger, who can go people and cross, score 8-10 goals and work hard off the ball
2 good centre mids, one thought tackler, one more flair player but works hard off the ball, but with the ability to score and create goals, also need to be leaders amongst men
1 pacy left winger, who can go people and cross, score 8-10 goals and work hard off the ball
2 good pacey but strong strikers, who will score 40 between them, hold the ball up, bring others into player and generally dominate centre halves with their pace and power

Need to ensure that there is decent size and height across the team, and We also need a couple quality impact subs in various position,

Now if we could that balance then we'd be looking good

Aren't they the key attributes needed to be successful in any league?

You need a bit more up the leagues

- More agile keepers
- Quick central defenders
- More attacking full backs that can run at people
- A ball playing centre half
- A play making midfielder

L1 is a little less complicated and to be affective players need to be particularly strong in one area; pace, power, skill, finishing, tackling. More basic...

As a team, it's then like putting a recipe together.....bit of pace there, strength there that compliments that. You need different things!

Our squad seem to be average in context of L1 in most of their attributes/skills. It's like we have a squad full of utility players (ok at this, not too bad at that), no-one in our squad (Reda aside) is REALLY strong, or REALLY fast or REALLY aggressive in the tackle.
