driving wife and sister to Ricoh sunday to see Bon Jovi so i have 5 hours to kill. Thinking of finding a local cinema and then coming back for something to eat at either pizza hit/ F&Bs around back of Ricoh. In google maps i see there is the "Arena Shopping Park" across the road.
My question is if i hit this area around Sunday night at half 8 will i be able to park up without any problems eg is there ANPR cameras and a limited visit time, or is the car park closed off?

Arena Park do have ANPR and you'll be stung if you park there for longer than two hours, unless you spend £50 and keep the receipts!

There is the shopping park but it will be rammed.

You are best off getting back on the M6 and going up to the next junction to the Showcase Cinema where there is a Pizza Hit / Frankie and Bennies / McDonalds etc and then going back later.

You could also go down the A444 to the Odeon near Nuneaton that has food places around too which may be quicker to get to

At the Arena Tesco they will have parking attendants, there used to be a 2 hour limit and minimum spend on events but not sure how it would work on a Sunday night when all the shops are shut.

Pizza Hut etc all have their own little carparks so not sure if spend in there counts towards parking in the main carpark.

I’d drop them off and go to junction 2 on the m6. Just off there is Showcase Pizza Hut, Frankies and Nando’s in the complex.

There is event parking and it is operated strictly so you’d be fined - it’s 2 hours limit - also street parking incurs fines as well.

There are some unofficial parking sites you could try - the official is expensive and difficult to get out of - I use the Hub pub which is 15 minutes walk or I think I you can book the old coventrians rugby club (slightly nearer) on line

If I may make a suggestion. Instead of parking around the Ricoh, park in the Belgrade Plaza NCP car park...I think it’s £1.50 all day for Sunday. You can then have something to eat from one of the restaurants there (Pizza Express, Cafe Rouge, Bella Italia) or grab something from the restaurants in Broadgate. It’s not too far to walk from the Belgrade Plaza to the Skydome, where there is the Odeon cinema, and there are also a couple of nice restaurants on Spon Street.

You can then walk to Pool Meadow to take the bus to the Arena. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time though.

Coming back, it is then a lot easier as you wont get caught up in car park traffic or stuck in the queues to get to the M6.

A couple of friends of mine went to the Spice Girls concert a couple of weeks back and were back home in Hertfordshire by around half past midnight.

Have a safe journey and enjoy the concert

Thanks for all the responses. My sister in law ihas mobility issues/blue badge so i need to get as close as possible which is why i suggested F&B. So if concert kickout time is half 10, if i get parked up in the car park after half 9 i should be OK?
I had planned to hit the cinema in nuneaton which was about a fiver - the showcases were shoeing about £11 and i'm a tightwad (after blowing close to £300 on the tickets for wife and sister). So i could always eat elsewhere also and just park up at the car park if possible

Tesco Arena has ANPR, on match days/concerts they are in use and you will be stung. I seem to remember though, if your eating then if you keep the receipt then it can be quashed. But it's the risk of getting a ticket, then having to fight it and then risk them saying that you have to spend £xx amount.
Personally, I'd head back on to the M6 and head towards the Showcase Cinema in Walsgrave. Cinema is much cleaner and conifer than any other cinema locally. Also, when there you have a choice of a few eateries there too. Nandos, F&B, The Brewers Fayre. Also a decent little pub near by called the mount pleasant. 2 hours on matchdays, or longer if £50 spend. Thats great. 2 hours will be plenty. If i hit F&Bs around half 9 i have an hour to east some food before they close and an hour to wait for wifey.

At 8.30pm on a Sunday night the entire retail park is closed. I'm not sure how strict they will be given that the entire car park would be empty otherwise. To be honest, they're missing a trick, they could charge and make a few quid.

If you're just dropping off / picking up and don't need to actually park at the Ricoh your best bet is Judds Lane. There's no actual drop off point as far as I know but there's places you can pull over to let them out. Or if you go to the end of Judds Lane its a dead end so you can let them out there.

Dropping off you'll be fine to drop them right next to the Ricoh. Picking up will be a bit harder. Tescos etc is busy on a matchday when theirs 10K of us there. 30K being at the Ricoh it'll be ridiculous to get out. I'd look at picking up from somewhere like Hen Lane if your SIL can manage the 5 minute walk.

Vouchers count towards the £50 spend. That's how we often park at the Ricoh on a match day. So if you get a space in the Arena car park and then eat say in Pizza Hut, get a voucher to bring your spend up to the £50 and then use the voucher another day back at home. They may even have Tesco vouchers in the garage.

If you do this you can get the 13 in Belgrade Plaza which finishes around 10 mins walk from the stadium. You can pay on the bus with Contactless/ApplePay for adults but it’s cash only for kids.

There’s also Coventry Welsh RFC on Burbages Lane and Christ the King FC on Winding House Lane. Both of those are a 5-10 minute walk away and you’d be helping out two local sports clubs in the process.

The side directly opposite Tesco, if you don’t go into the Tesco car park and go left a bit you should be able to drop them right next to the ramp for them to walk under the train track
