Robins did from time to time like a "free jazz" team selection

Maybe Lampard is trying to keep those pining for Robins happy.
Reckon this is something he needs to work on. Lampard wishes he was Robins. Instead of feeling like we have appointed an elite tactician it feels like an apprentice filling in for his master. Sure that'll change as he makes the squad his own.

I would like to see Tavares and Raphael given a proper game. The others aren't scoring so let's try it. Everyone expects us to lose this anyway and we seem so impotent up front, especially without the two/three injured attackers. I'd even be happy to Allen given a go, I think he's always solid and seems to have been unfairly sidelined this season...

Trying to work it out tbh.

If Raphael is starting then imagine it’s a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 which isn’t the change promised.

Could be a 4-4-2 but imo that would force Rudoni onto the wing leaving BTA and Norman up front which I don’t think would work.

Weird idea could be a 5-3-2 with wingers as the wingbacks but I’d worry for us playing out the back (fuck it play Ben Sheaf as the central CB 🤣).
6 3 1 with Rafael up front 🧐

I'd find it a bit strange if Allen started. He's played 20 mins in the last two months since returning, rarely gets off the bench and clearly isn't fancied by FL.

But I guess we need to try something in midfield and maybe his energy will help.

Filling in the gaps, if you’re playing Bassette, Allen and BTA, you’re planning to cover a lot of ground.

Maybe a 4-2-4 shape? Something like:

Dovin
MVE
Thomas
Lati
Bidwell
Rapha
Sheaf/Eccles
Allen
BTA
Simms
Bassette

Could be a shout but would seem weird after the pre match comments on Rudoni. Unless Rudonis on the wing instead of BTA

Good point.

If the Sheaf talk is true, then perhaps he isn’t played today and someone has to partner Allen which I’d expect it to be Eccles but Rudoni could be there. Alternatively, the more likely scenario is Bassette and BTA upfront with Rudoni and Rapha on the wings.

Which would be unfair on Simms as he played well against Cardiff and deserves a run in the team.
