Agree to be fair. Personally I’m fully behind the phrase and context behind black lives matter and I have and continue to support it. But it’s clumsily worded and ruffles a few feathers and this is easier to understand.

Both will do fuck all though in reality. Cunts will be cunts and a random phrase during a football game won’t change that.

Yeah I agree but what else do we do?

Kick it Out is nothing but a piecemeal facade. The Rooney Rule gets rolled out to white groans and never gets enforced anyway. We are literally no further forward than we were 30 years ago.

Unfortunately, with the advent of Trump and Johnson we live in a world where precious white people get awfully offended by equal rights and roll their eyes while asking ‘how long are we going to take a knee for?’

All you can do is be a conscious person...teach the importance of equality, support palpable change, call out racism...and never, ever stop trying, no matter how daunting it seems.

I watched a science program about the future of earth, talking about how earth will be in the future, from the planet being 150 degrees celcius on average and unable to support life in something like 750,000 years, to the start of plants being unable to photosynthesise anymore in a much shorter time frame... One of the things that was mentioned is that in around 10,000 years all humans around the world will be the same colour.... I'm going to say that that is when racism will be no more, humans of that time ofcourse will find another way to hate each other

Humans will be long gone in 3/4 million years. If we haven't destroyed ourselves we'll have evolved into something completely different and been superceded. Of course it won't stop the sun heating up/expanding naturally as it uses up its fuel and thus all the planets surrounding it creating those conditions.

I'm always a bit wary of this 'unable to support life' thing and I reckon life is prevalent in far more of the universe than we imagine and able to cope with very extreme conditions. If you think about it the Earth was formed by bits of rock that had been floating around the frozen depths of space for untold lengths of time, yet still those building blocks of life survived and eventually managed to reproduce until it created the vast variety of life we see today, have seen in the past and will see in the future. All in a relatively short time frame cosmically speaking. So if those building blocks were around on the bits of rock that created this planet, it's highly likely they're on many others and thus the ability for life to be created remains throughout the cosmos if it just has the right conditions to do so.

The important thing for life beyond anything else is stability. Conditions need to be consistent enough for a long enough period of time for those building blocks to adapt and thrive. If the conditions change too much too quickly anything created won't have enough time to gain a foothold. That is why the atmosphere is so important to us - it regulates our conditions.

I'm not convinced either about water is the vital thing for life - it's purely the medium which was available on this planet and was therefore what it adapted to. If we were further toward or away from the sun other elements could take the place of water in the meteorological cycle. Titan I think has one based around methane which is solid, liquid and gas at those cold temperatures. Provide the building blocks with a stable enough environment in those elements and they will, eventually, evolve to survive in them.

So I think as long as those changes are fairly slow paced and a planet has an atmosphere which provides it with enough stability life will be able to find a way of clinging on somehow. It may well be very simple forms of life, but it will be there.

Sadly, you're right about finding other reasons to hate each other. We already do to varying extents. Nationality, regions all artificial constructs. Beliefs, be they religious or political. There will be animosity based upon wealth. Some people hate others on gender, sexuality, even the brands they like.

Can i just check whether you are saying three quarter of a million years, or 3 to 4 million years? The only reason I am asking is it may affect my long term investments, and I may need to adjust accordingly. I'm going heavy on refrigerators and air conditioning, with a small investment in Cornish ice cream.

I actually think as a result of BLM we are probably 30 years further back, but of course that is just my opinion.

I haven't seen anyone pick apart this latest slogan and that is a good thing though. It means we can concentrate on the actual problem rather than arguing about a phrase or how it is interpreted etc.

Did anyone see the nfl show on Saturday? Watch it on I player

One of the pundits osi(a black man) said it perfectly and summer up my personal views. He would not take a knee and protest against the country that given him so much

England is not racist. May have racists living here but dont say fuck the police in my name. Let's weed out racists not try to erase history and make out all of it was bad or still is etc

Lets have the right discussions and stop wasting time.

Agree with the name thing. All it needed was the word “too” on the end but guess they never expected people would even question it as a concept. I’m sure most have seen this but this is glorious:

Think it's a much better way of going about things to rid Football of Racism.

Fair play to the EFL for thinking that up and putting attention onto that
Better than that shit black lives matter, when all they do is destroy shit.

Yeah. There’s nothing worse than a decentralized political and social movement advocating for non-violent civil disobedience in protest against incidents of police brutality and all racially motivated violence against black people.

I can see how that confuses and therefore annoys sensitive white folk.

The ‘black’ bit’s the problem. I get it.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of racist people here; and a lot more that don't even understand when they're being racist. That's one of the reasons these discussions are so important.

No one is trying to "erase history" - people are trying to make it. Pulling down a statue that causes offence to a large demographic of people is not "erasing history".

The whole movement is weeding out the racists; it's challenging people's perceptions of racism and encouraging discussion amongst people.

You are of course entitled to your view, but many disagree with you. Being patronising and virtue-signalling like this will not change anyone's mind either I'm afraid.

Usually used as a facile attempt to shut down an argument somebody's got no answer to.

I think I answered it perfectly reasonably. The fact of the matter is, screaming about something not everyone agrees with doesn't change minds. I don't think anyone has taken issue at the latest slogan to be honest.
