Where do I sign up 😂

Always found it a bit odd you never hear a thing about her locally. We celebrate a band like the Enemy but not someone local who plays arenas worldwide
It is odd Dave , she's easily Coventry's most famous (currently) music personality.

Always been the same really. If it's not Two Tone then it tends to get ignored. Delia Derbyshire and David Freeman are two good examples of Cov talent that has been ignored for years, although Delia is thankfully starting to get some recognition now.

Same with almost everything really, if people will pay , they will keep asking for more money. I’m a big believer in what I think they are calling ‘ Out loud budgeting ‘ these days……I can’t justify paying that much for a few hours entertainment….and in the UK that might include dreadful transport issues and torrential rain on the day.

Lee Dorian and Cathedral were massively successful as well and they never get much of a look in.

Lost some respect for the Gallaghers. Ive been an avid fan all my life, was lucky enough to see them In 09 at the CBS with the Enemy on my birthday!

Seen Liam solo a few times also

Tried for this but fuck me it's been a shambles from minute 1, and them 'working class' boys agreeing to that ridiculous dynamic pricing leaves a sour taste

Also reading they will be kept completely apart other than on stage just makes me feel it's not going to be as great as some think

Alongside the demographic now being different, it will be full of people mainly there for the Instagram photo opportunity
I do think this has turned a lot of people against Oasis now. Expecting quite the backlash.

They have ripped fans off

Oasis tickets were usually fucking expensive, it was around 40 quid for the last tour in 2009.

They never gave a shite about their fans.

Mad isn't it

I am now in Folkestone and all the music is very much celebrated.

Don't know how they got the honour, but Folkestone is the world's first music town.

Had nearly 50 bands playing here last weekend, across 9 venues.

If just eeks music. Comedy too. There is comedy on several nights of the week

I just don't think Coventry is arty enough. Or, people don't care enough when there IS arts on.

Shame.

Very, very happy where I am, but do feel for my home city.

Got to see Jerry Dammers do a concert on Brighton beach last Sunday, I was really surprised that there was still enough interest in ska but great to see a Coventry export still going.

Bob Jackson is another hardly ever mentioned, was in Badfinger... years ago I used to take my Son to have guitar lessons off Bob but he had to knock them on the head because the lead guitar player of the Searchers had a heart attack and they recruited Bob to play a tour with them 😂

Had a look on Twitter earlier and the amount of pages giving away tickets for likes and shares are a joke

Turns out the sale could of been illegally conducted, dynamic pricing isn't as such illegal but you need to tell people that the price may change before hand so they don't do any activity that they wouldn't of done if they had known the prices could change.

I.e. Ticketmaster needs to inform people that dynamic pricing is in place before to start to queue.

Does it not depend on what information is presented as you join the queue? I didn't try so didn't see but if the ticket prices weren't presented at that point it's hard to say.

yes, it seems it didn't tell you on joining the queue dynamic pricing was in place and people are alleging that the first indication of the price changes was when they got through and found the prices had increased

They do come out of this looking like a pair of cunts but I do wonder how much they knew about it and not just their management.

The thing is they would have known in advance how popular the tickets were going to be based on the amount of people who signed up for the pre-sale link which I can guarantee would have been far more than the actual number of tickets available.

Looks like they did underprice them at £150 and probably could have made them, say, £200 and although there would have been grumbles people would have paid it and they wouldn’t have got all this negative press.

When they’re reputably making 80 million and then add on the sales of the rereleased album, merch, millions more follows and streams on social media, Spotify etc. to basically nick an extra mill or two like this leaves a sour taste.

Hopefully one or two of the successful tribute bands do gigs on the same nights and people pack them out and go and have a good night watching them instead!!

I've always been a big fan of the Rolling Stones (went to the free concert in Hyde Park aged 15)...seen them a few times live but went to watch the "Counterfeit Stones" a good few years ago and they were really good...I see they are playing the Albany theatre next march,I will go to see them if I can.
Also seen the "Jamm" a couple of times...fucking brilliant (Paul Weller hired them to play at his 40th party).
A lot of the tribute bands are really good.

Ticketmaster have never given ticket pricing information in the queue whether dynamic pricing is in place or not. Always pissed me off as for a lot of tours there's zero pricing released before hand. Helps them jack the prices up and have people panic buy.

Would be nice to see some changes, and dynamic pricing removed, but they've been using it for a couple of years now over here and artists like Springsteen and Pearl Jam have had backlashes with nothing changing.

This could be the government to regulate it tbf!!

They are indeed. I used to be a bit snobbish about them, but having seen a few now, I have changed my mind.

Funnily enough, there's a really, really good tribute band on down here on Sunday, at the Folkestone bandstand. They are called On The Run and are one of the very best Pink Floyd tribute acts about. They are so good, they actually have two people with the band, who actually played with Pink Floyd themselves and appeared on their albums.

Anyway, the band played last year here and lots and lots of people turned up to watch and the guy from the local venue who organised the gig, filmed some of it on his mobile phone to post up on the venue website.

That little clip got 1.5m views.

It's actually quite sentimental in many ways, because the bandstand is only a few yards away from Leas Cliff Hall (fabulous venue, built into the cliffs), where Pink Floyd played live in 1969.

Can't wait.

Watched a Bob Marley and the Wailers tribute band called Exodus years ago and they were superb. No idea if they’re still going. Also T-Rextacy were great and the lead singer is close to Marc Bolan’s family.

As for Oasis, I couldn’t even sign in until 3 hours after they went on sale. Then queued for an ice age to be faced with £400 odd for standing tickets. Swiftly fucked it off after that. Well worth waking up at 3.30am on the last day of our Florida holiday for. Still haven’t got over the sleep deprivation.

I mean to be fair, I paid £40 in 2004 to see them at MK Bowl.

I think I also paid only about £25 to see them in 1999 at Wembley.

Both fair prices when you consider you normally get to see at least one decent support act as well.

If that is correct then Which? and Trading Standards say there could be a case to answer

Lots of Artists opt out of "Dynamic" pricing, Taylor Swift,Ed Sheeran and The Cure being three that do... Robert Smith says it's a "greedy scam".
All artists have that option, interesting that the Gallaghers are so far refusing to comment.

it is disappointing. not like they weren't gonna make a stash of cash anyway.

Pretty sure Swift has used dynamic pricing in the past. She's also used what they call slow ticketing, which is setting face value of tickets so high shows only sell out right before the event, often when some of the tickets are discounted.

This is going to be the problem with any sort of regulation, there's so many ways artists use to maximise their revenues. It's the norm now for there to be 'VIP' tickets which offer no perks other than actually getting seats.

The Cure showed when an artist does give a shit things happen. They even got a partial refund of fees for people who had bought tickets after they set face value low and then Ticketmaster added on in some cases more than 100% of face value in fees.

It's the same as touting, there's ways to stop this, or at least make it a lot harder. But these days its normally the case that the artists is getting a percentage from the big resale sites.

And thinking about things on a macro level, the reasons ticket prices are so high nowadays (across the board) is that artists make much less money from sales of their work. Gone are the days of selling millions of CDs at £12.99 for the latest album. That revenue massively diluted with online streaming.

You're right online streaming has massively impacted artists income and it's seems touring is the way they can profit.
Tbh with Ticketmaster making over $1 billion clear profit a year selling tickets (and loads more from tour promotion) it's a profit figure that seems ridiculously high to me.
It seems that artists and fans are getting rinsed... can't be right and needs regulation.
