Nah, after we're promoted he'll be a CHAMPIONSHIP player and worth a few more millions.

Otis said:
Isn't that a bit odd?

If he's going in the summer anyway, wouldn't it be better to sell him now and loan him back?

The way League One defenders are clattering into him, he could easily be out with a long term injury. That won't put his price up in the summer.

We don't want to use one of our loan spots maybe? Having said that though, I'm sure it would be Liverpool calling the shots. If they say 'look, we'll give you £7m in the summer'. Who would we be to argue. Unless he scores in every game until then. In which case the price will be £15m

Would say there's a fair chance there. Obviously been some link between the two clubs with Kent coming here.

Or he could get injured again and be worth nothing.

Further to what was reported earlier by the Telegraph, Mirror Football suggest that Liverpool made a firm enquiry about Maddison.
The Reds were hoping to agree a deal for the 19-year-old midfielder that would see him signed now and loaned back to the Midlands club.
However the paper says they will now go back at the end of the season, and attempt to conclude a deal for the attacking midfielder, who is also wanted by Spurs.

Exactly what I'm saying. The way he is getting clattered I can well see him suffering a bad injury.

It will either toughen him up or cripple him for life

Or he might have a stormer and be worth double. It works both ways.

He needs to be wrapped in cotton wool like Reda was.

I think if he IS going, sell him now and bring him back on loan.

Then if he gets injured it will be their problem and the fee will have already been agreed.

Guessing we think his value will go up, but that is a gamble for sure.

I think they got the cotton wool mixed up with concrete for Reda

Just heard that Jack Stephens "once kept Wayne Rooney quiet". Is that so difficult?

If Spurs and Liverpool have both shown interest it could work to our advantage. Might make the club think twice about selling him when the first offer comes in and keep him until the summer. Get a bidding war going and they could bump the price up, could also push to have him back next season.

And then not be able to play him because we have too many loanees?

If this was happening at another club wouldn't their fans be saying that they'd done well to hold off predatory premier league bids for their young star by putting a high price on him and refusing a loan back?

Like the "Announcement to follow" add-on

Edit: considering how much Mogga has spent on the training ground, couldn't they have got new carpet ?

Agreed. Start from the bottom and get the basics right. Ramage has been a disaster. So bad on the ball, Stokes will be relieved if he's out the side so he doesn't get so many hospital balls!

As I say, big gamble!! And remember, this doesn't stop the amount of loans we can have, it's just the amount of loans you can have in the match day squad (5).

Just joining in, has anything happened? My computer's too slow to scroll back. Nothing on the BBC so I assume it's all quiet?

Two deals nearly done, loans for a Bournemouth and Southampton defender.

Coventry City boss Tony Mowbray has completed the signing of highly-rated Southampton defender Jack Stephens.
The 22-year-old right-sided centre-back has joined the Sky Blues on loan from the Premier League club until the end of the season with Bournemouth’s Baily Cargill set to follow.
Stephens started his career at Plymouth Argyle before being snapped up by the Saints who paid £150,000 for him to join the club’s development squad.
He made his first-team debut for Southampton in a 2–1 FA Cup win against Coventry in 2012, going on as a second-half substitute for Dan Harding.
He’s since enjoyed successful loan spells at Swindon Town, where he played most of last season in League One, and Championship Middlesbrough earlier this term. During his time in the North East he played in four Capital One Cup games, including a goalless draw at Old Trafford where he helped keep Wayne Rooney quiet last October, and one league game in a 3-0 Riverside victory over Charlton.
Like Cargill, Stephens is a versatile player who is just as comfortable at full-back and also an England youth international, having represented his country at Under-18, 19 and 20 levels before stepping up to earn one Under-21 cap in November in a goalless draw with Bosnia when he blotted his copybook somewhat by getting sent off.
