It's a sad day in terms of sentiment for the club. Robins is without doubt the best manager we have had for decades and saved the club at an important time in our history.

However, Doug wants to run the club a certain way which is his right. Ultimately he set the target of getting promoted to the play offs 3/5 seasons which we aren't even close to achieving. And with the way he views the structure of the club he feels there will be a better option out there.

Sunderland have had success with a similar model so far this year, let's hope we appoint the right person.

Thank you Robins for some of the greatest days in our history.

Christ, I'm shocked. I actually thought the wins would have bought him more time.

Although I think with the international break coming up it gives a new manager time.

Gutted. The last part of this feel good era gone.

Well done to all the spineless gutless tossers of a group of players. The 7 tears before this were superb. These pricks have cost him a job.

Good luck to the next boss trying to get a song out of these prima Donnas.

We'll be having this same chat in less than a year when the next one leaves

Me neither. I feel like he’s going to try and get a name in, which is why I worry it’s gonna be Lampard
My hope based on recruitment patterns is it’s someone from the continent. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Stevie G who’s about to be sacked in Saudi though!

Not based on the comments on here, my wattsapp groups and social media comments.

Which is a tiny fraction.

People move on.

The football was becoming very turgid and last night a lot of ST holders clearly did not go.

The results have been poor for a long time and King is not going anywhere - he would have gone against Luton but for the comeback.

Last night the players did not respond and it would have just carried on.

Genuine question to people calling the decision a disgrace and all the rest of it: how long would you have given him, and why?

The timing is a bit strange, almost feels like the relationship between DK and MR completely fractured beyond repair after last night.

Perhaps he should've been given more time, but unfortunately I'm not sure this team's fortunes could be salvaged by MR. He's probably taken us as far as we can. The performances were awful and the results are looking far too difficult to come by.

Will always be grateful for everything he's done for the club.

He should at least have had the Sunderland game as a last hurrah. That game is now a write off.

King is a successful businessman and I would imagine he has to be ruthless in his pursuit of that. He's demanding success for the club.

Time will tell if this is the right decision.

Apparently there is a fans forum arranged for next week

I know it’s not a popular take but I think we will improve as a team provided that the manager that comes in is decent and not someone like Lampard etc.

A lot of Championship club fans appear to be in shock, around social media, and think it's a bad decision. Probably says a lot.

Not sure what it says, they haven't been watching all of our games since about April.
