A pretty cold announcement in my view. MR has given me some of the best footballing memories of my life. I wish he had departed by mutual consent with lots of warmth and emotion in the announcement. The words are there about his achievements but it's all a bit too corporate and business like for me - MR deserved way better I think. Interesting times ahead because Doug has been largely devoid of pressure up to now. Now he has made this massive call and sacked someone who should have a statue outside the CBS, he's put himself front and centre in terms of calling the shots and having responsibility

“The Club will take its time to appoint a successor to Mark, although the position will be that of Head Coach working within the new structure set up by the Club over the last two years.”

this is as I predicted. robins was never Doug’s man

I said for ages Doug was giving Robins enough rope to hang himself....

The players however are just as culpable this season

Ending the way it has is horrible for the fans, and for Robins. He deserved a goodbye at least

The players should be ashamed of their lacklustre performance last night that ultimately cost MR his job. Too many managers are fired nowadays due to the failings of their players to execute the plans they have worked on week in week out. It’s about time owners sacked some of these over entitled players instead.
Agree with that. Even allowing for MR’s own mistakes, they have performed far below acceptable standards.

Even Sheaf is nothing close to his usual levels.

I’m glad you said that first line because I felt the same, it just seemed dramatic to me to make the comparison.

To hear that we haven’t got someone lined up because ‘we’re taking our time’ making a decision is genuinely infuriating.

My ‘bet’ is that we’ll get an absolute blagger in as the person to take over Robins and it won’t last long.
Yeah same. I was too embarrassed to say it, but it really did give me that same feeling you get when you hear someone has died

Think it's just shock and surprise.

Sh*t that he's gone, but can we stop ignoring how bad we've been over about 30 games, and try not to turn on each other? Club is still here, with an owner that's doing a lot of things that are objectively the right things to do. His call and if it backfires, I'm sure he understands it's on him. I'd have been more worried if he'd stood blindly by MR for much longer.

We've got a choice now. Roar the players on as hard as we can, or turn on them and each other.

The Wolves & Man Utd comebacks probably stopped him from getting the boot over the summer.

I am shocked, with a shot of disappointment. Last night was really bad however, failing to create much in 90 mins against a limited side. His interview on CWR was worrying, calling out players, and basically not understanding the fall in performance levels from the last 2 games. I guess his job was on the line before QPR, and 7 points out of 9 before last night gave him a chance to keep his job. I hope they have someone lined up, but the announcement of a Head Coach suggests it will be an interim appointment....

Like putting in place a structure that's followed by elite clubs who win things all over Europe? I'm not blindly loving DK here but it's hard to argue he's doing the wrong things for the club.

Did those things make those clubs elite or the other way around?

Going to hurt when him Adi and Dennis get back together at another championship club and recreate what they did here.

Wow. Why after last night but not a couple games earlier? Has someone been lined up as a replacement and Doug just waiting till it all in place.
Clearly things behind scenes and on pitch not running smoothly and the plethora of coaches has appeared to hinder rather than help. Losing Lawrence then the ‘mysterious’ leaving of viveash has not helped robins.
Robins had stabilised the playing side of the club and given us some of the happiest and most successful years of CCFC.
Thank you and good luck for the future!

Been out all day with no internet, just reconnected and had loads of messages about it.

Didn’t want to believe it was true.

Feels like we’ve lost a massive part of the club. Regardless of how shit it has been, it’s the wrong call.

No had a chance to read this thread yet, but I imagine we’re all shocked.

Feel for a new manager. Will have the fans against the club before a balls kicked. As a business man DK ain't half short sighted whilst pretending to have vision

How was he going to get a goodbye?

I regard Robins as a god (as a joke ofc…) but he does bare some blame for where we are. He has had a lot of money to spend and we’ve definitely gone backwards from the summer. Again, I wouldn’t have made this decision but the home record is a disgrace and this week felt like ‘make or break’ as many posters said.

I was at Middlesborough and the love in for MR made his position seem unassailable for the foreseeable future. The team that showed up last night couldn’t get basics right.

All heart has gone from the club. Bunch of midwits hiding behind corporate language now.
