OFFICIAL: Mark Robins has been sacked (9 Viewers)

Do you seriously believe that King has sacked Robins because he had a scroll through here? Even though all the polls had a vast majority of people saying Robisn should say and ‘Mark Robins Sky Blue Army’ and ‘there is only one Mark Robins’ get sung at every game?
Fair comment about the polls.

Of course King doesn't do whatever people ask for on here or elsewhere on social media. I’m just saying negative over-dramatic views about a run of poor results get amplified and reverberate around far more than calm opinions.

We have only been properly outplayed over 90 minutes once this season, and every other game could have gone either way IMO. Normal supporters who can cope with that are drowned out by the flappy few who make a crisis out of it. And a crisis (real or trumped up) erodes confidence and lends justification to the need for change. Robins is clueless and has lost the dressing room, the players aren't trying for him, they are all League One standard, we are relegation fodder etc. I don't think any of that was true but it got a lot of traction and did nothing to support the team or the manager.

I really hope that having got what some people called for, it works out well. Who knows, King may announce a major coup and in a couple of weeks we'll be falling over ourselves with excitement. But like others, I fear we might now be starting a period of obscurity and a managerial merry-go-round of no-Marks.

I have avoided nothing.

The results on the pitch will come in time

Currently I'm happy with the value of the squad and the potential for future sales model.

Thats nice. But you said quite dismissively that obviously this setup is more sustainable. Yet you seem to refuse to say what it is you see that’s worth sustaining.

I’m going to keep asking proponents of this system until at least once gives me an answer. I think the fact four of you can’t so far says a lot.

Wycombe fan here - I thought I would give a little background on Bloomfield while his name is involved.

Took over from an absolute club legend in Ainsworth less than two years ago, and had a difficult transition as he wanted to change the style of play (and it is always difficult following a legend anyway). Coming up to the new year last season we were scuffling along, technically in a relegation fight, with many fans calling for his head after a run of 1 win in 17.

For some reason (and I applaud him for it) our old owner dug his heels in, insisting Bloomfield would come good. We then aced the January window with three key signings, and went on an absolute tear, rising up to 10th (not 16th), with Bloomfield winning Manager of the Month for the last month of the season as we played a packed schedule, mostly away from home.

This season we lost to Wrexham (unluckily) and Birmingham (fairly) to open the season, but have not lost since, and are playing insane football for our budget and this level. We have scored 31 in our opening 13 matches, way more than whoever is in 2nd. We have a new billionaire owner, but he has not gone crazy (yet), so our budget is still probably midtable. So basically, Bloomfield has had us on ridiculous form for the whole of this calendar year, and the team and style is now thoroughly his. He is very different from Ainsworth in most ways (though he kept the team unity aspect) and is very attacking - we have only scored less than 2 goals once in our opening 13 league games, with no-one keeping us out completely, and our last four league games have yielded 3, 3, 3 and 5 goals.

Hopefully that gives some background as to why he is being talked about. However, I think the timing is bad for both clubs and hope he does not leave.

For us, he is a club legend who played 558 times for us - most in our league era - and captained us to the most unexpected triumph in our history, the League One playoff final (when you had gone up as winners during Covid). We have seen the growing pains and are now getting to enjoy a manager who we all love as a person hitting his stride. When you love a bloke like that, the thought of him leaving hurts more. He also loves the club, having spent over 20 years here overall as player, coach and now manager, so the comments about not thinking he would go to you are more about that relationship (and to some degree, the fact he is in a promotion fight with the potential for more backing) than a disrespect of your size as a club.

For you, the reality is that managers are not always good fits, even if they are doing well elsewhere. Would Blooms be given time when one of your greatest ever managers was given a short leash this season? As some on here have said, would Champo players respect a manager who has only made a handful of second tier appearances? We are in a new era where you see a lot of young managers who did not play at a high level, but there is obviously major risk there.

I think Blooms is destined for great things and would not begrudge him going, but I am hopeful that he earns a few more plaudits with us and maybe even gets us promoted before moving on.

I am actually a little gutted Robins was sacked myself - even though you were always a bogey club for us, he is such a good manager and had you playing some fantastic football at times. The semi final VAR moment was symbolic of football dying a little more death, for me.

Good luck in whatever you do, and the TLDR version: please go in a different direction to Blooms!

You think haviNG sub standard facilities and selling players cheap and not spending on incomings is a better model just cos robins was employed? Not too mention overhaul every summer due to loans and not permanents

Not many want him, we are happy for you to keep him

I think it was working. And this isn’t. Everything else is noise. You’d be a great person to sell to though.

Thankfully after seeing the backlash all over social media , the robins out brigade were genuinley a minority and most of our support isn't morally bankrupt
I wouldn’t even say a small minority, it was just the clueless owner of the forum posting bullshit threads after every single game, should be embarrassed with himself

Another who can’t answer basic questions so has to resort to insults.

You can’t touch me with peer pressure after years of being anti Sisu on here mate.
Are you drunk mate? Seriously

We are all sad robins is gone. The club as a whole is in a good place however that's all we are saying

Most will not care who attend games after a few weeks
I don't know if that's a dig at me or not...if so...its still a poor take and many decent posters on here don't go regularly. But you know that already.

Regardless, you could be right. If a new manager comes in and wins his first 4-5 games, then yeah, maybe.

If a new manager comes in and doesn't do well, many - including those who attend games, will care and will look back and say it was probably still a bad decision.

One of the most well connected guys to the club, huge knowledge of the inner circle has made his feelings clear… DK rotten.

And all I’m asking is why you think that when the last 18 months have been an endless slide towards relegation.

The club is in a good place !!! Christ I would hate to be in a bad place according to you.
We have sacked the best manager in the division, and have an owner on an ego trip.
He knows fuck all about football, but has obviously been reading books on how to be a football manager.
He is looking at the big boys with stars in his eyes and thinks, the more coaches and ipads the better.
And I will get me a female performance coach who knows nothing about football, just to show how progressive I really am.
This guy is going to be the ruin of us,the megalomaniac needs to sling his hook now. And take his entourage with him.

Because I see bad results as down to tactics and bad luck recruitment wise that's all

Also don't see it close to relegation worries either

Like an RPG we are grinding and soon have enough points to beat the boss battles

Random.

He wasn't the best manager in the division, clearly.

Is that the performance coach who played for Villa and Swindon (women football granted), who's dad and grandad were both footballers and who worked at the Premier League for 7 years?

I will laugh at people suggesting Doug King takes advice from web forums every single day of the year
Of course he doesn't 'take advice' from social media, but it creates an environment. People think their negative (even vicious) stuff on the web doesn't filter through to the players, affect their confidence, undermine the manager, or help set the scene for decision-making. I disagree.

It is no dig but fans do not care at the game if we win. Even when Black was sacked and we beat Crystal Palace - I think - in Reids first fame in charge fans were optimistic.

He will not win 4-5 games on the bounce and no one expects that

Has anybody actually been vicious towards Robins?

Probably not, but I was thinking more of the players in that regard, and it's certainly true for several of them. Robins has merely had his ability as a manager trashed every time we lose a tight game.

The players and management need to grow a pair if that’s the case.

Anyone in the public eye needs to learn to accept that the general public will have an opinion of them

I don't agree with the decision made, but Robins has looked like a dead man walking for quite a while, possibly he's quite relieved it's come to a end.

Who knows but what a journey it's been.
