It's not really relevant, the facts are we'll be selling our best player, widely recognised as our key man and will not be able to spend all of the income on a replacement. It's going to be really difficult for the outcome not to be a regression in the overall quality of the sqiad.
We have already paid a fee for Palmer haven't we?
Of course it's relevant. When we've lost/not kept the likes of Walsh or McNulty, we've not gone backwards. We've managed to bring in players to replace them that have helped us move up the leagues/league table.

This is probably the most important part of any dealIf he goes, whatever the fee it won't be all up front, so need to moderate expectations of what there will be to spend if anything
I doubt any fee paid would've been particularly significant given how desperate Bristol were to get him off their books.
Sorry I was talking more about sales wise, this is the first time in a few years we actually have saleable assets and unlike other years we appear to not have to sell them on the cheap, surely if things were as bad as people are making out we would have accepted the reported offers for vik or hamer or O'Hare that we have aparently rejected in favour of if we sell them they go for what they are worth (as apposed to what happened with Wilson, maddison, juke etc)
That's what feels different to me... Also from a outgoing point of view we have given new contracts to O'Hare and Hamer which won't have been cheap and I can't imagine Palmer is on peanuts either. We would also have loan fees and wages on the two loan players so money is being spent (again something that people don't seem to accept for some reason)
That could be literally anything though couldn't it. peugeot bought Chrysler UK for a pound, after all!Was reported as a free initially but since then there’s been word there was a fee just undisclosed.

Again, the noises coming out were that those two were somewhat more. As shmmeee mentions, Palmer started off as free, then went to fee. That doesn't suggest we were suddenly spunking for him.As could Sheaf and Gyokores.
It also means we could potentially get people in without a fee but have money for their wages.

I dunno, I find the noise very different this year to last (OK, Sheaf was already confirmed beforehand but he signed permanently, we spent on Gyokeres) or the one before that (we bought Hamer). There's been nothing like that, and the talk has instead been of players being sold with nothing other than a bit of a punt to console us.
If we'd signed a Gyokeres as-was or a Hamer as-was, I'm sure people would be a bit more phlegmatic.
But then that's chicken and egg. The nervousness is that we *will* end up selling them on the cheap, as much to pay for those very same contracts. Until it's done and dusted, that's going to be there isn't it. I'd agree that the new contracts is very good news - with the attendent worry that us seemingly being unable to sustain our wage bill doesn't bode well for us going forward. Fisher had always said our model would work in league one, but not this one... and that's a nagging doubt isn't it. And while I hate it when fans are billy big bollocks about their clubs, you'd think middling Championship ought to be a reasonable aspiration for us, surely? And yes, that will indeed involve selling players, so I'm not particularly worried about that. I'm more concerned about how we then work to improve the squad, and how our owners decide what's appropriate for running costs... and what those running costs turn out to be. The slow movement so far appears to show we're right at our limit, and what we had done a lot better in recent years is get our top targets in early, allow them to bed in (well, I'll give you the likes of Chaplin, who were a long, tortured chase!).
We will indeed wait and see, but the runes aren't reading well atm. I wasn't one who thought we should push in January (and we did sign Bidwell then anyway) but I was admittedly hoping for a permanent CB at the very least, and that doesn't look a possibility anymore, does it.
What I especially hope however, is that if we do go into the season with pretty much the same squad we have now, people don't expect too much of the manager and show some tolerance if it doesn't go as we all hope. This season feels very much like a standing still season, which doesn't have to be a bad thing in itself... but we have had momentum behind us for a while now, and that's been quite nice really!
I will accept that I was very dubious about us using our budget to sign Gyokeres, based on his loan spell with us before. It was more the point that we did actually spend some money on some players, that suggested we were trying to grow both the club and them. And yeah, that means they get sold at some point up the food chain (hopefully! It shows we've done well if so!) but we still need some others to come through.I had to Google what phlegmatic meant but some people on here were just as bad last transfer window / start of season. There was just as much moaning and panicking, just over different things. I bet it's the same people who were saying last season that O'Hare & Sheaf were shit and we hadn't strengthened and would probably be in another relegation scrap.
We're in a better position now, with actual real sellable assets. When was the last time we had that?
But it's a bit easier at a lower level, it gets harder to replace players of O'Hare's class because you are competing with clubs that are far better off and can offer much better. It was relatively easy for us to replace McNulty for example because we were only competing realistically with other L1 clubs and we were one of the better off ones.
All he's done is move us forward. I'll be gutted if/when O'Hare goes - for as much as his integral-ness within the team as much as what he does on the pitch. But I also know plans will be in place and it' be a case of 'gutted - but we go again'.
Rudoni just signed for Huddersfield- 4 year deal. A potential replacement now off the market.
What, you mean Huddersfield had to pay more...Guess them getting a player from Hudds on loan played a part.

Don't worry. That's on its way when Robins discovers he's getting non of the proceeds to investAt least everyone is posting about the team, the squad, the players and possible transfers.
Remember when the posts were all SISU, Higgs, CCC and court cases?

Different owners wouldn’t be stacking up loans against us at 17 %I am not worrying about anything because life is too short.
Even if we had different owners we would still be selling players and fans would be moaning about the owners. Just listen to radio Talkbollocks - fans of Prem clubs phoning in moaning. If we got back in the Prem our fans would still be moaning. Its the nature of the football fan.

its irrelevant as we are now in a totally different situation

We are doing well. Lets all cheer SISU . The owners who have taken millions in management charges, and interest. And made zero investment in the club.#nopm #sisuout #boosisu
