£8m plus add ons ( I’m guessing a promotion bonus) and you can understand why it’s been accepted.

It’s what happens next that matters. If we were to sign the two derby players then you could argue we’ve strengthened and potentially got a replacement for Hamer/Sheaf if they move on in the next couple of windows.

However like everyone else I’m doubtful we’ll see money spent on signing fees.

Terrible news, he’s massively influential to our style of play and is a unique player we’ll struggle to get a like for like replacement for.

He was also getting very close to, if not already, at cult hero status (at least by modern standards) so it makes it an even harder hit to take. He seemed to have a genuine affinity for the club and a connection with the fans.

I also hope it doesn’t have a knock on effect on the others in camp. Seeing one of our best players leaving cannot be great for morale, and may sow a seed of doubt in a few heads.

However, objectively we’re a selling club like every other one. The key is next steps; if re-invested and we pull off one/two exciting signings, plus those already in, and retaining Gyokeres/Hamer then things aren’t as bad as they seem.

It’s an absolute shitter as he’s such an asset but once the dust has settled, the funds could end up being a significant silver lining.

Also, I don’t think he’ll be quite the same player at another club. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.

They’ve replaced these loans with permanent signings. I think their spending is over £100m now?

after promotion. I was replying to the fact it had been said they'd chucked money st promotion which they didn't.

I haven't been posting as often recently as I seem to have a stalker
I've had him on ignore bur no doubt he's hovering over his keyboard waiting for every post I make
But he shouldn't bother
I'm afraid COH is on his way to Lancashire
It's not fair to blame anyone at the club
The personal terms are astronomical and virtually any player would want to take advantage of a life changing offer like this
But of course the club still have power and we have driven a hard bargain
Certainly more than the £5m Fulham offered
If there is any consolation it's that we are in a stronger position to demand a higher fee for Gus if a wealthier club comes in for him in similar circumstances with a stupendous contract offer

Kompany splashing the cash to make up for the inevitable incompetency. Wonder if o'hare will be bood or cheered when we play them

Pretty much sums up how I feel, and I was going to mention the effect on the rest of the camp. Hopefully a new face or two around will help settle everyone. If we sell either of the other big 2 I will (for a while) be very twitchy regarding the season (also hope MR bangs his fist enough to strengthen the team elsewhere).

If you'd told the me growing up with us in the Prem, who only saw us play Burnley when we tonked them 3-0 in one of the cups, that they'd be nicking one of our best players I'd have howled with laughter.
I struggle to get over those days, have to accept I'm 37 and things have changed a lot.

I’m 57 and have got used to it, even in the PL I thought there we were times when, with a little investment, we were on the brink of better things, only to see our better players being sold e,g. Wallace, Thompson, Hunt, Gillespie, Babb, Dublin, Boateng, etc etc.

My dad (who’s not a football fan but who introduced me to CCFC in 1974) has always said that we are a training ground for other clubs ( he remembers Denis Mortimer) and nothing has changed. You’ll get used to it, especially if we have to put up with SISU as owners.

As for COH I don’t want him to leave because he’s only going to get better and more valuable to us and financially but needs must I suppose, begrudgingly. However I can’t believe that SISU won’t give MR a % to reinvest as I don’t believe he or AV would have signed new contracts if that was the case.

Hopefully he will be honest and say I came here because I'm being paid a fortune compared to what I was getting at Coventry. Will be missed but fingers crossed MR has something sorted.

better days

I would imagine this will escalate quite quickly then , it didn’t appear that far down the line last week
Tbh SBB you're normally better informed than me
But once an agent tells a player the size of what's on offer the writing is on the wall
There are exceptions like Steven Gerrard back in the day for instance but usually they're at clubs that can pay something approaching the potential buyer even if they can't beat it

Gutted but one of the 3 was always going to leave. If it is 9 mill, would expect a max of 3 mill to bring in a replacement. Robins needs to work a miracle again.

No chance he'll get that

Ok I’ll put it out there and ready for the flak… how about Liam Walsh coming as a squad player? I know he hadn’t done much since he left us but but under robins and vivesh a fit Liam Walsh would be positive?

Yes he has to stay fit as well!
Think he's out for the season injured. Also not the same position
