not sure why stating he was injured has anything to do with it really - strange

Sounds like it, ‘we supported you whilst you were crocked and then you jump ship’. Maybe reading too much into it, but still no real need to mention his injury record. Great player for us and a fans favourite until the end.

May not be not so much that he "jumped ship" but he's kept everyone guessing what he would do since December. The club probably aren't happy as they couldn't plan ahead. If he'd said in January that he wouldn't re-sign, they could work around that fact and maybe sell him in the Jan window. In an odd way, Hamer at least told us in advance so we were able to benefit.

Exactly right. I got the opportunity to speak to Doug King in the hotel after the Plymouth game for a good hour, and he was pretty miffed even back then at the uncertainty, particularly with the deal he’d put on the table, which included a sell-on clause (from which he would also benefit).

Vik and Hamer apparently both told Robins on the coach back from Wembley, that they wanted to leave which I thought was nice timing but as you’ve mentioned above it allowed us the opportunity to plan ahead.

He wouldn’t have wanted to be sold he is likely to get a better deal as a free agent.

I don't think he was referring to him beeing sold, it's more along the lines that we could of been scouting a replacement sooner and looked further afield, and maybe could using the wages we offered him elsewhere in the squad or transfer market.

Good luck to him, but he’s a chump if he’s stayed in the Championship.

He was a good watch for a couple of seasons in league one/championship battling relegation, but in truth, I actually think we've gone beyond him now, plenty of the current squad are better players, we've lost much better players and been fine. Good luck to him but not that bothered he's left.

Had some skills a personality but miles from legend status. Time to sign that one contract somewhere that fills the bank, fair enough
