Ok fair enough but where's this striker....
Dovin in his ‘welcome to Coventry’ video said we made contact with him in March this year so my assumption is that we’re in contact with a few players that fit our profile.

Wasn't the chat that Wilson was on his way as he was pissed off after finding out, after buying a new house?

It's funny how times change. We've just spent over a million pounds on a keeper.

Personally I didn't think what we had was that bad but this guy sounds like he has great potential.

Exciting news, if he can be out next Westwood, or better. Then we're on to a winner.

Like most I can remember a time under Sisu where we paid fees for about 4 players in about 6/7 seasons.

If he’s pissed off about that then he’s a bit naive isn’t he. Number 2 last year and let’s be honest, dreadful when he played. Should have known there was a very good chance he’s getting chopped

He only has 1 year left on his contract, he must have had a little think to himself before he purchased his house, that there's a decent chance he'll be moving on to a new club in the near future.

I couldn't believe it was that few, but fuck me - appears that we signed almost as many players for a fee last season as we did in the previous dozen years combined.

22/23 - £0
21/22 - Gyokeres
20/21 - Gus Hamer & Josh Reid
19/20 - Matty Godden
18/19 - Conor Chaplin
17/18 - £0
16/17 - £0
15/16 - Roman Vincelot
14/15 - £0
13/14 - £0
12/13 - £0
11/12 - Cody McDonald & Chris Dunn
you missed ben sheaf off there

So I have a bit of soft spot for Wilson as he was excellent in the play off season (we'll always have Blackburn). People that go on about it being all about the defence - he was part of that and I don't know why people are so desperate to do him dirty.
Collins never really convinced me but had his moments. The reality here though is that hopefully with Dovin as no.1 opportunities will be limited. With two good youth players - I think if either or both receive a decent offer you probably let them go.

That Hull game at home, Collins was like a sack of spuds.

Whoever we retain out of Collins or Wilson it will only be for another season . Both youth players seem destined for the first team squad

I reckon he will be. He has all the attributes to play at the top level. He’s racked up an amazing amount of 1st team games and he only turned 22 the other week! Think it’s 80-90. He’s still got a lot of development in him but that’s why we’ve got him.
My one fear with that is how much our keepers quickly seem to regress under the current GK coach.

I'm thinking way further back than (April) Hull but given the amount of game time our no.2 is likely to get, the relative influence of that position on the result and the confidence that we have in our 2/3, I think there is a weak rationale for not letting either go, reducing the wage bill and promoting the youngsters.

Agreed but that also makes him easier to move on.

And you think Collins will be happy going from a guaranteed starter (that's how we bought him) to a certified backup in one season ?

Wilson at least is comfortable in his role as backup. He won't be stirring up problems in the changing room moaning about lack of game time. Not saying Collins will but he'd surely be put out being demoted so quickly.

If either goes, it'll be Collins looking for another starter position.

Collins is still the better keeper and better with his distribution

I honestly think Collins was told when he came in if he impressed he be number 1. He didn't, so now we went for Dovin. If Collins was good enough we wouldn't have signed Dovin, simple as!!
I think Collins was signed as he was available and does have a lot to his game that is a lot better than Wilson. The way he fell away , confidence? , was worrying and we've looked to improve on Collins but out of Collins or Wilson I'd have Collins every day as number two
