Dovin is the third choice Swedish keeper in the Championship alone tbf. Not exactly the pinnacle of international pedigree.

ESB logic: Leap to the defence of Ben Wilson at any time.

Also ESB logic: Ben Sheaf is the root of all that is wrong at CCFC.
I have no problem with ESB but i really need to shut this Wilson shit down. He's bloody awful and the cult surrounding him is bizarre. It would have been freeing for him to have gone in the summer so the lunatics would stop going on about getting him back in the net.

Anyway, we know Wilson is shite so we need to get him gone ASAP. We don't really know how Dovin will end up, if he ends up half as bad as Wilson, whoever scouted him should be forced to spend a week alone with Will King.

Sure looks like the career of someone who would get capped by a reasonably decent European nation.

I don't think anyone is really suggesting Wilson is better, it is just the double standard that is showing some people up to be a bit unbalanced.

Not that any of it matters, but have you seen the other goalkeepers in the Sweden squad? The league itself is League One standard at best and most of the registered goalkeepers have played there or in the English football league.

Cult of Wilson 😅

I mean, i don't know why people use his past career as a stick to beat him with. Never seen this happen with any other CCFC player! Bit harsh IMO

Dovin was presumably higher rated than the Derby keeper prior to this season? Obviously getting dropped for Ben Wilson won't have helped his stock.

Just playing in a generally shite team isn't going to help a new keeper in fairness. I don't think Dovin has been good or bad, he's just been fine... which is better than Wilson. He certainly wasn't near the top of our list of issues when he was playing. I'd put him comfortably behind the strikers that can't score and/or be arsed, the midfield that often may as well not be there and the defence that doesn't know what day of the week it is.

Don’t know, the Derby keeper got called up in September while Dovin was still starting for us. Both of them have only been capped in the ‘unofficial’ Feb international break where only homegrown players play due to it being the off-season in Scandinavia.

I think i'm actually kinder to our players than most, i rate most of them and consider the manager to be the main issue this season. For reference the list of players i don't rate...
Wilson - shite
Collins - thought he was ok but was poorly managed and turned shite
Lati - Don't get me started
Allen - I just wish we were in a position where we didn't have to use Jamie Allen anymore
Dasilva - take him or leave him, maybe playing better than Bidwell this season tbf

I am not defending Wilson. I don't think he is that good. I just haven't seen anything to suggest Dovin is head and shoulders above. Anyone else that says they have just have an agenda regarding the former. I don't necessarily agree with Dovin being dropped, but he has now become prime Buffon since and it is weird.

I am pretty consistent as for Sheaf I've just maintained that he's also overrated in way that makes people a bit delusional, albeit in a slightly pantomime villain capacity. The stats with our overall results back this up historically, and all those in the summer saying he was going to the PL for 25million plus ended up looking pretty embarrassed when it did indeed turn out to be a case of them over-egging him.

No one has said this or anything like it?

People are making the point that it's nonsense to drop a keeper after 6 games having done nothing wrong.

How would Dovin even prove that he's head and shoulders above Wilson in only 6 games anyway? The mark of a good keeper is long term consistency.

You're deliberately misrepresenting other people's points to make yours sound reasonable.

No, that is what you and others are doing. You have already shown on several occasions you haven't been reading my posts properly.

I have consistently said I don't think Wilson is that good. You are all crying your hearts out about Dovin being dropped, like he is something a lot better than what he has shown so far. Now, he might come good, and he might be a lot better than Wilson in the future, but this place has become meltdown central regarding Wilson to the point we are not sensibly discussing Dovin's contribution.

So if Wilson isn’t any better there isn’t a good reason for him to replace the player we’ve just signed after a few months. Collins had to wait for longer than that before he got the chance.

Yet again you prove you don't understand what I'm saying.

The point is Dovin wasn't given enough time to come to any reasonable judgement on his ability, and dropping him is likely to have a negative effect on his performance in the future.

I agree with what you have just written, and have said so many times. Log off Cam.

Tbf though, Dovin is still eligible to play for U21s the Derby keeper is 26. We've seen it with England numerous times over the years where we've kept players in the U21s rather than have them sat on the bench with no chance playing int he seniors, whilst lesser players have been in the squad. It changed a little with Southgate Tbf, but prior to that it happened all the time.

Anyway, about him as a player, the mistake didn't look great.

From what I've seen, he seems fairly decent for his age and will only improve!

Maybe Sheaf is overrated
Any look at stats of Sheaf’s performances quickly dispels probably the strangest take on our team.
Wrll he can prove his worth now can't he?
He's certainly able, but not necessarily now he's just been marketed as a £20M transfer to the premier.
Now that's been settled I wonder what part it played in Vivash's exit?

Has he not proven his worth in the 5 years he’s been with us? This season, he’s come back and played a handful of games and over the season he will get back to his top level. Sheaf is, without a doubt, miles ahead of any midfielder we have at our club.

On the Viveash point, he made a lot of enemies at the club from what I’ve been told so he’s got himself to blame. Robins doesn’t strike me as a snake so he must to some extent seen the writing was on the wall for his colleague.

This is the second time that we are aware of him making a similar howler when he thought the penalty spot was the ball. He clearly lacks fo us and concentration during a game like hes in his own little world. Dont think it will be long before we see the same mistake with him in a league game

Maybe but it’s such an odd mistake to make that it feels like it’s something that’s not going to be a common occurrence. We’ve bought the guy now, I feel like we should get behind him and give him a chance before writing off the £1.5-2 mil we spent on him, imo.

Using a 2 yard pass completion rate of 99% is extremely one dimenstional way of looking at it. Have you seen the results table, PPG, and also the clangers everyone seems to shut their eyes at? He's a decent player, just massively overrated, and no one has ever successfully counter-argued my points on him once.

Like I said, didn't go to the PL for the ridiculous £25 million many were frothing about and yet I've been sitting by my front door waiting for apology letters to come. Seemingly all those people sending them have collectively got lost together.

Just give the lad time. He may an injury, he may behave a niggle? He may have lost confidence?

Fans don't know him, they don't work with him every day.

Neither do I, but he is a young prospect and deserves time. There is no obligation to play him.

Just give him time.
