Ominous Signs ??? (1 Viewer)

Are we being softened up for further forthcoming sales of some of our current squad - the exodus continues and the inferences abound:

Westwood; gone
King; gone
Gunnar; just a matter of time
Jukebox; best part of £900,000 owing to Everton - "current market value £2.5 to £3 million"
Connor Thomas; serious dent of £1 million not forthcoming from Liverpool
Ben Turner; "selling players like BT would not be beyond the realms of possibility"

Woe is me

Sorry for the miserable tone of this post but the signs are surely there are'nt they ???

Or possibly you can look at......Juke worth £3 mill, BT about the same, maybe 2-3 mill. Connor Thomas potential million pound footballer coming through. We have decent squad building, continue to play the way Mr T wants us too and hey ho, we don't look to shabby a club now.......Happy days.

Put in nutshell, i like to think that clubs are looking at our players beacuse we are slowly (and painfully) putting a decent team together. That's what we want isn't it? :)

We were putting a decent team together when we had dann and fox and look what happened!

Yea your right, let's all give up......all gloom F**k the coming season, let's not bother.

We have no control over who we buy or sell. The facts are the team that finished last season will have a slightly different look at the start of next, but as long as the football is played the same then i will be happy and will look forward to it as i do every year. Christ we get so doom and gloom on here before anything has actually happend (as above, befor you go on about past or the liar)

with academy being molded any youngsters coming through will play the thorn way so even if we sell to stay afloat we should have a championship level team i would imagine

disheartening yes,but were still in with a shout at the start of every season

the King incident has caused a major disruption within the club, leaving fans like me feeling utter despair. But on reflection, has it not always been like this? We've always sold our best players. The likes of Ian Wallace, Dennis Mortimor and lately Scott Dann. The was made worst in WGS era when we spend money we just did not have on a gamble of keeping us in the premier league. Selling Highfield Road and not ring-fencing the funds from the sale was totally disgraceful, and board at the time with Richardson at the helm have to take to blame for o ur current blight. At the moment the only way out is a huge investment. But who is going to invest in Coventry City, what do we have to offer? A pretty average squad with limited value astadium we do not own, low home gates, and a relatively low season ticket population. Andy Thorn will need to work a miracle this season, lets hope he can pick up a couple of gems from the lower leagues. Mid table is our best hope I'm afraid, I cannot see anything better than that

Right here's the way I see it:
IF (and it's a big if at the moment) someone comes in with a decent offer for any of our players, whether it's Turner, Clingan, Jukebox etc then we have no choice but to accept to ease the cash flow
The players we bring in will be on a free or lower league players for a small fee
We've just got to hope that no one else wants our valuable assets. I've got a feeling that if we can keep hold of our key players (mentioned above) and build a team around them then we should finish mid table which in our financial state is a good finish.
Hopefully we'll see the best of Connor Thomas this season and get more money for him next year or the year after, I don't want us to sell him but if he's as good as people say then he could be our most valuable asset.

You're paying for the potential rather than recent performance. Wickham's tipped for the top.

New to this forum, But having watched Bury a couple of time last season, they have a player on loan from scumcester utd called Nicky Ajose. AT should be getting into Fergie and bringing him down to the Ricoh for a season.Lightening fast with a eye for goal. Just hope he dont play against us in the cup.

If we have to sell Lukas we need to try and get the best price i would value him at £2 Million. And keep promoting
players from the youth come on the city.

he is meant to have loads of potential that lad. I'd take a look at him if I was AT, but I'm not AT so I suppose it doesn't matter what I think!

I am shitting myself for next season, to put it bluntly. With King gone, westy gone, gunnar on his way and juke looking to be going i am seriously worried about next season. No matter how good Andy Thorn is /will be, he wont have a chance next season without at least 4 players coming in (if the ones mentioned above leave). Looking to be a relegation fight next season.

So much negativity, it's crazy really the transfer window isn't open untill next week and what ever happens happens! The new CEO told me personally after the fans forum that AT has the same player budget as Boothroyd last season! 2 players have left with no real surprise, and if gunner goes too then that frees up money for AT to work with ! Something he has proved he can use very well !

makes me laugh, it is all rumour and counter rumour! lets wait and see what happens from here till season start, then can deal with what we have instead of BLIND PANIC

The transfer window is currently open, it is players contracts that end next week, doesn't stop you signing players now though.

The fee was 900k and I believe we still owe 500k.

Ouch... thats worrying isn't... I foresee a further transfer embargo in the not too distance future for us. oh well, at least it also stops us from selling people too LOL

could work in our favour.. every cloud and all that ..

I dont see any reason to worry just yet?

Yes some people are getting frustrated at the lack transfer activity, however there was never going to be any movement until King, Westy and Gunnar made their minds up, Yes king went 2 weeks ago, Westy's was only confirmed this week, and were still waiting on gunnar!

So to be fair you cant really look to replace until there wages are freed up.

In terms of current players being sold......Clingans not going anywhere, Juke is not yet worth 3 mill but will be at the end of this season if he continues to improve and gets around the 15 goal mark, Turner also not yet worth the silly money being banded about, but a full season like the start of last season and he will be.

I think we'll see signings in the next week or so. for me i'd love them to be Murphy, Le fondre, and someone like Koumas if gunna goes!

Is there anyone out there that isn't worried about our current state of the union, and our prospects for the coming season, Gone! the best Keeper we've ever had. Gone arguably the best centre foreward we've had in recent seasons, going! probably! one of our most influential midfielders, and also in doubt, our great white hope Jukie.
Yes! I know we're skint...But reasons to be cheerful
Errrrrrr..Ummmm! ...... . .. .."Dont rush me" I'm thinking about it.
Respect..Tankie, "Downtown Bedworth"!!

I don't agree that Westwood is the best keeper we have every had, It says much about my age but Oggy and Hedman were both better IMO

So he was only 3rd best.... everybody can be replaced....:)

My cups half full, not empty. I will wait until the season starts and give AT a chance to get the players he wants (within budget contsraints) in.

Lets at least give him the chance.

Talking of ominous signs there is one at the M69, with directions to Lei*cester, if that isnt ominous, directing unsuspecting people to the home of the nations total throbbers, I dont know what is.

Forth if you include Bill Glazier who was our best ever keeper IMO
