Boxing Day 1969. Cov 3 Ipswich 1. Goal scorers Ernie Hunt, Neil Martin and an own goal. Attendance 32,755. My last game as a Cov kid living in Coventry, two days later my Mum and Dad dragged me screaming and kicking to a new life in deepest, darkest Norfolk. You can take the kid out of Cov, but you can’t take Cov out of the kid!

Boxing Day 1999, Coventry City 3 Arsenal 2. Not only the best festive game I've ever seen, but the best game I've ever been to. The quality of (certainly) 2 of our goals...I've said it before and I'll say it again, I still cannot understand how on earth Robbie Keane managed to score that third goal.

Best yuletide game ever?

Cov 4 Spurs 3 27/12/86

Love the determination Cyrille shows for the winner: immense energy to start the move, then get on the end of the cross, then the rebound, THEN that celebratory sprint!

A 4-2 win at Luton, a 4-0 win against Liverpool, a 5-1 defeat at Leicester with Steve Lynex taking us apart. Still 4th in the table at Christmas.

Wrong season I think.
