Exactly my concern. Not sure having to big strikers works as well and would much rather a big target man, small, zippy striker alongside.

Jackson + Madine/Nouble would be ideal but the brittle defence is at least as big a problem to fix.

Well where to start, I thought generally we were the much better team, we should have killed the game off way before Orient had a chance to come back into the game..

That said the injury to Reda was unfortunate and we showed character again to grab a point, considering our record away from home this season a point will do, but in my view it should have been three.

Who do you drop? The obviously answer is Madine, but then you go back to not really having a target man, and having 2 strikers that want to play outside the box.

I'd give madine and nouble a few more games to try and create a partnership. Not all strike partnerships gel immediately.

Could be 3 weeks until our next league match as Notts County could be called off for internationals according to there fans, may not be a bad thing. Get a few more bodies back in defence and give Reda time to recover.

The big/quick combination is one we know to work well as Clarke/Wilson showed last season and it offers two different threats up front. Nouble/Madine could only work I think with the midfield getting up quickly and in enough numbers to support them. O'Brien seems capable of doing that and possibly Fleck too but considering how exposed it would leave our shoddy defence I think keeping one of the target men on the bench makes more sense. As I said elsewhere the defence is a much bigger concern.

To be honest I don't think that Nouble is a target man.. Yes he has a big frame but he is not your conventional target man.

Agreed, I don't think he is either. He prefers to drift out wide or drop deep so that he can turn and run at the defences from deep. If you want to play target man/little man than nouble is the man to make way.

Jackson's not even that quick, and he seems to want to play the channels rather than get in the box.

Depends how they play, Nouble is powerful, pacey can drift deep and out to the wings to dribble and create.

Madine can occupy the opponents centre halves, challenge for the aerial balls, hold the ball up and attack crosses.

Could work out decent

Nouble has a far greater presence than Jackson -- he has been very disappointing.

But that said I wouldn't want to change it right this minute in my opinion Nouble offers more than Jackson and for that reason we should stick with Madine and Nouble.

Wouldn't have put Leon Clarke in the target man mould either but you know what I mean-someone who can use their strength to bring the pacier striker into the game against the huge centre backs in this league.

The squad is now aburdly imabalanced. We need to move on a couple of the strikers and get a goalkeeper and central midfielder.

Nouble has good pace in fairness not as quick as Jackson but he does offer more.

Clarke linked the play in a very beneficial way, I have a good feeling about the Madine and Nouble partnership let's hope I am right.

From a glass half full point of view, we've taken 4 points from the last 6 and despite apparent periods of shite, we've shown decent character to come back and get those points. Work still to be done but some positives.

I don't think the Bournemouth deal went well for us.
Not sure if SP got to pick those players or if he got told as a result of the Wilson deal we are also getting the following .....

However if they are not to be used I would get rid if all three plus tudguy and sign a goalkeeper and a nasty bugger who can pass.

Yeah, watched wolves earlier, Clarke was crap in the number 10 role, but as soon as he went into the number 9 he was a platform to play off. Holding the ball off, first time lay offs out wide, winning flick ons. We have desperately missed that platform to play off since he left in Jan.

Nouble's just not a number 9. He's not that interested in staying up top, or getting in the box.

We need numbers, Coulibally was injured today, but other than that the remaining players from Bournemouth offer us something.

You have seen much more of the team than I have this season so will take your word on it. Either way it seems that for the time being we are in a good position with strikers, just that the further back you go the more suspect things get.

I think things may have been different with Reda at the back.. We will never know..

Inexperienced keepers, soft midfield, no proper right back...add in Reda's injury and we still didn't lose. Says a lot about the level of opposition...

Just got back , thought first half we controlled the game really , second half we weree less than impressive and was not too keen on us lumping the ball forward constantly .
thought the pitch was tiny though so may have been part of that reasoning , think the 2 goals conceded were very soft and overall thought maybe we were the better of two average sides on the day .
great support from the city faithfull

covcity4life;806307 9pts off playoffs! [/QUOTE said:
We are a lot more than 9 points off the play-offs because while we gain points, the teams above us will also be gaining points. Everyone is not going to stop winning just to let us climb up. We need to string 6 or 7 wins together to reach the play-off spots. That wont happen if we cannot win away.
