Ah I got it wrong then. I thought that they had an option in their favour that they didn’t take up. The above makes more sense.
They offered him another contract but he rejected it




This is where I got it from. You’re right that they didn’t have an option but Suggests that they didn’t offer him a new contract which would have guaranteed a compensation fee.

I think Villa are one of those very mid-table premier teams going to be reliant on a good start or it could be a tough season.
And when they sell Grealish they'll be back in for O'hare
