Our biggest problem has to be... (4 Viewers)

Heard various fans criticise various players/aspects of our team. The one fact that is most striking is the way the team throws points away. It's a terrible record. Particularly for a team that are decent for this league and lying in 8th.

If we had held on to just half of these points we'd be 4 points clear at the top before the run in.

The new manager can do whatever he likes but if I were him then this would be my main priority. Confidence, discipline, concentration, winning mentality. Whatever it is they have to fix it.

not surprise really, I still never feel confident when we score. We can never kill off games...

even throwing away 14 points would be pretty poor and would see us bottom half of this stats table - but it still be enough to put us top!

I'd say out utter inability to defend set-pieces or the counter-attack is ultimately what's wrong with our team. Add an inability to convert chances and it's no wonder we are unlikely to make the play-offs.

Those stats would hint at a mentality problem...agreed that this will have to be addressed by New boss

Inability to both defend and attack set pieces!

They were poor again at the other end today-it's one aspect at least in which Fleck improves the team.

That first goal of theirs yesterday was shocking.

How a player can volley in like that in the 6 yard box from a corner is beyond belief.

Edge at fault. If you put the vid on pause the ball was there to be headed out and for some reason Edge went for it with an outstretched leg.

2nd goal was just awful marking.

Sadly this is not news...we are leading the whole football league in terms of points thrown away.

When you consider that this happened last season, suddenly it's quite hard to blame Thorn! I agree we must have some kind of weird culture going on that makes us weak when going ahead

Edj doesn't do set pieces Malaga did

More points thrown away from winning positions than any other team yet we think we can win 8 games out of 12?

:(

The defence wasn't good enough last season and it's not good enough this. That is why we keep throwing points away.

We need 2 new centre backs.

Otis look again I don't think it was Edge... may have been Leon.. Edge(25) is nearest to camera in that group of 3 isn't he? Clarke(15) and Cameron had that "zone" on the pitch. However I am more concerned about the 2nd... freeze the frame as the ball is received by the player who knocks it onto the Goalscorer and look at our defensive "line"... its a diagonal running from the left back to the right back... about a 30 degree angle.. with Edge and Dickie miles out of position.

It was Edge I'm pretty sure. Unless my eyes are failing me.

I freeze framed it and he sticks a leg out when he could have quite easily headed it away.

I think we've thrown away more points than any other club in England.

That's another thing that's just occurred to me. Had we not thrown away even half those points no-one would be moaning about Leon Clarke and his work rate or whether he is lazy or not.

It's our defence that has let us down time and time again.

It's almost as if we now have to score at least 2 goals a game to win.

Nope... got it on freeze frame now... its Leon with Cameron turning his back somewhat...Edge isn't to blame.. well bloody hell.. after defending him like we have on other threads seems like he is culpable after all.... useless Leon is... get him out;)

I deleted it after watching it so can't check.

If it was Leon then I need my eyes testing. Fact is the ball could have been quite easily headed clear. A player should never be able to volley the ball in, in a crowded penalty area from a corner.

It's just terrible defending.

Their player got inbetween Clarke and edge, however it looks like he was making a forward runs from edges is position and when he scores none of their players are near edge, I'm 99.9% certain he was edges man.

Our defence has been poor all season. We had a period where we were scoring plenty of goals so it didn't matter and we all forgot about how slow Wood is and how inconsistent Edge is and our full backs were being caught out of position. Now we are back to scoring the odd goal in a game our defence are being found out. This season is officially over in my eyes and only a real optimist would think otherwise.

Yep, totally agree.

We have won no more than 2 games in a row all season.

We now need to win something like 4 or 5 and we haven't even got a manager.

Barring 2 wins out of Bournemouth and Swindon this week, our season is over.

it means Donny have NEVER lost a match after going ahead this season. Can you imagine how that feels?

Sadly no I can't imagine it... some record that is though.. like others I feel we now have a mountain to climb if we are to achieve a play off spot.. not impossible but improbable... fact is we are just not good enough in certain areas.. defensively being a case in point which is why perhaps with the players we have we ought to think of another way to play... 5-3-2/3-5-2 anyone? is a question I posed on this thread... my theory is based on players we have and our inability to bring players in..

With what 3 CBs? Bar Wood, there're all a liability and even Wood can be dodgey.

That I agree with. The thought of Cameron and edjuingele covering out of position wing backs is not a pleasant one.

Been discussed on another thread.

3-5-2 is something we should definitely consider.
