Our season starts at Palace! (1 Viewer)

Being realistic we were never going to win the league or challenge for the playoffs with our squad. For us it's about finishing as high as possiable and keeping out of the bottom 3. With this in mind we should not be too worried about losing to Leicester who have spent 10mil and Birmingham who were in the Prem last season (not saying we want to lose). Both of these teams will be looking at promotion and fighting further up the table. Our season is about winning games against the teams who will be around us of which I think there will be quite a few. Lets not forget its not like we have been rolled over 3 or 4 nil in both games. I think we will have a better idea of where we stand after the Palace and Watford game.

I would love to win at Palace, but it is one of the hardest places to play.

How many will take the trip to London?

Roughly 900 to 1k going. Traditionally a good ground for us over the years, but need to improve on last seasons game there, that's for sure.

The good thing is Ambrose maybe is out, the bad thing is its only maybe.

He did make 2 goals last season in the same game.

What a excellent post. I can imagine Thorny saying these very things. We can get wrapped up in the Derby games, but we need a touch of realism, these 2 teams we have played so far, in the league are if you like "out of our league", but we competed respectfully. Palace & Watford will be a real gauge to where we will be. Lets just hope that they don't churn out a Bury performance!!:claping hands:

Last season we lost 2-0 at Palace, who are a pretty good home team, but piss poor away (they only won 1 away last term).

I think we have been a bit unlucky - if we had started away against Leicester, home against Birmingham and Crystal Palace we would could have sat mid table after tomorrow. I can't see us getting anything away at Palace, but that's just me being pesimistic.

Last seasons 2-0 defeat was down to 2 comical school boy errors made by the ref. Unfortunately we have the same ref tomorrow night :( :jerkit:

I know last season we didn't help ourselves in terms of our finishing but we gave them a good run for thier money. As the OP says Leicester and brum are big teams in this division so to lose to them is not a factor we should be worrying over, especially as we controlled large periods of both games. Palace will be a big indication of where we are and i hope this time the ref will be concentrting on the game.

palace have made a reasonable start their no pushovers lets hope we do a bury and play well

Yes, we have to be realistic in our expectations this season whoever we play. but 0-1, 0-1 against "tough" opposition aint that bad plus as a team we were not totally outclassed by these two sides.

Indeed 4 points is well within our grasp for the next two games providing we keep our shape and stop hitting the frigging woodwork !!!

We start our season against (*insert team here until we win one)

Obviously we can afford to give all these teams a head-start in points since we're so much better than the rest of them.

Oh and one more excuse lined up already is that after we narrowly lost to the team that spent £10m, sinec they lost to Reading, when we lose to them too, we can quote "well they did beat Leicester" oh and of course that follows for us to draw aline through all those who beat Reading and so on. It's easy this, if it weren't for the other 23 teams who are better than us with a budget to spend we would be top.

I feel a night of frustration coming our way, hope im wrong but cant see goals in the team to win games and not to mention the fact that Palace are tough at home...:(

I will be happy if we end the season with 53 points - never mind who we take them from.

I hope we do win but i just have that feeling were gonna start great be 1-0 up then concede before half time then in the last 10 mins bottle it and lose 2-1 we need to win if we dont im gonna be very worried.

Let's face it, if we get 6 points some people will claim we're play-off contenders, if we get 1 or 0 then it'll be relegation fodder. There's never any middle ground. Chances are we'll finish 17th again irrespective of the results in the next two games.

I just have a gut feeling life for us cov fans is going to get ugglier before it gets better. :(
I mean just as a whole Sisu, injuries, players sold.

As regards beating Palace we have a good chance they are in the same boat as us a lot of key players out with injuries a good time to play them. :D Lets have a bit of luck aswell maybe a jukey shot hits the post and goes in off someones arse that type of goal !

why are we bigging up our losses to Brum and Leicester. They both lost their other games!

we were given a great chance against Leicester we blew it, we had chances against an average Blues side we blew it.

lets hope there are no excuses tomorrow. 3 games no points and it becomes a massive monkey on our back

I'll take 1-0 us with the goal coming off someones cock to be fair

I think tonight will be our biggest loss so far this season, but we should beat Watford

I think we will win this one.
We do create chances, we do play the ball, we look a lot different from last season (last few games apart) and we will surprise a few on our travels.
Clingan is in the form of his life fresh from international duty and by far the best player on the pitch at Brum.
this Biiggi guy is a real talent and looks like he has been there for years!
Macca is coming good and will score goals, so will Juke and bell like him or not will get a goal here and there.
Our luck will change and i just think palace is the place it might start. This early in the season with only 2 games gone is no time for heads to drop. They will be up for it.
My worry which none have mentioned is the central defensive pairing that just looks lightweight to me. rather have Keogh back on the right, McPake in the middle with Christie back on the bench. having said that though Thorn is looking for footballers not hoof ballers and will allow time for it to gel. Long term he may well be right and no doubt accused of being naive if he doesn't bolster the back. i guess it's what we pay a manager/coach for right?

i do love the way we write games off when we have lost, whereas we were looking for draws or sneaking wins prior to the game! I cannot see us scoring never mind winning so i would take a 0-0 however i can see us getting beat by 2 or 3 goals. I fear the worse this season, really do.

Why shouldn't we put tje past behind us if it helps with the player's confidence. Come on City pull your socks up, keep the passing game but introduce better movement. We are not a million miles away from where we were last season. ROD can score goals if we put the ball through to him one on one with the keeper. Defensively we're sound and bury apart have only conceded a goal a game, just need to get that spark of creativity in midfield.

Come on City come on Thorn I believe in you three points tonight! PUSB.

last year we lost 2-0 at palace, were winning 1-0, if we hold on, thats 3 points gained from last year is it not?
