The plans already exist for VLR but the problem is we seem to be reinventing the wheel with VLR so rather than being able to crack on and start building using the same tech in place elsewhere we've got to develop new tech and run trials.

Will be decades before this is up and running, if ever.

I want a Cov orbital metro. Stops at Torrington Ave, Warwick Uni, War Memorial, Finham, Willenhall, Binley, Walsgrave, the CBS, Prologis Park, Browns Lane, Eastern Green.

Don’t need to mess about with city centre traffic and building, would serve 90% of the city’s transport needs. Can add in cross lines into the centre later.

What about all those car parking spaces at the back of the Showcase/Tesco etc? That’s an enormous space . Ansty business park also has thousands. Would need to negotiate but surely not impossible.
Would be a brilliantly located P&R- exits to M69, M6, A46 and A4600.
Because it’s so close and just up the motorway, a bus could make many trips an hour. A fleet of 10 buses could disperse thousands of people- home and away.

Andy "Tosspot" Street was banging on about a whole host of transport infrastructure projects across the region while he was in post, but many were never delivered, or delivered late and horrendously over-budget (maybe the cost of his hi-viz jackets and hard hats he wore while gurning at all the photo opps).
Parker has ordered an inquiry into what went wrong and what can be done West Midlands transport probe expected to begin within weeks

Street was very good at the tell the person you're talking to what they want to hear thing. At the same time not a lot seemed to be achieved.

Cov was last on his list for any public transport improvements and the parts he did manage to get done were massively over budget and if memory serves they had to stop running at one point because they were deemed unsafe.

Park and Ride with tram stops at Exhall, Binley Woods, Baginton and Allesley with route North:South and East:West through city centre with stops at rail station and CBS Arena.

Start with the Exhall Baginton route to include railway station and CBS Arena.

Or something like that. Should be finished about the time we win the. Champions League.

Three years is a very tight schedule for a project of that size.

It's definitely a major positive and something I wish we did. It's also potentially worth pointing out, last time we went to Brighton, we waited for probably over an hour to get the free bus back to the car park. As an experience, it's not one I am really envious of. Instead of sitting in a car waiting, I was stood waiting for a bus, which then takes 15 minutes to get you to your car, which you then have to queues to join.

we parked in Lewis - got the bus there and the train back - we had to queue to get back on the train after the match but unlike the toy train at the CBS it was full length - decent planning by the club

I guess the location of the stadium influences that.. Fair chance it’s factored into the ticket cost as well.

These road closures are an absolute joke. Left the car park 25 minutes ago and we’ve moved about 800m.

Those roadworks have absolutely shafted everyone happening at the same time as the A444 closure.
Both can’t happen at the same time and expect a safe dispersal from the area or Tesco but no one will do so and us football fans will just have to put up with it until “Spring 25” - ie after the season is over .

I've never ever tried using the train station at the Stadium to the point I know nothing about it. Whenever I get to a game now I go to my parents in Kenilworth first. Is a train from Kenilworth to the CBS even an option or is it a shit show?

Dunno but the X17 bus into Cov from Warwick Road runs fairly frequently and they are running free shuttles to the arena from the Rail Interchange near Central Six.

But could do with making a quick exit on Boxing Day, is there anywhere off Lythall Lane (or that side of the ground) that’s like a 10-15 min walk where I can pay to park and avoid the road closures (unsure where they start/finish that side)

If you mean holbrooke lane end of lythalls lane there are a few you can look at.

Hollybush pub
Parkgate pub
Unicorn social club bit further away

Going back I would turn left and left down Pargate road and at the lights left down Beake avenue
and into town that way.If you google Lythalls lane coventry it should show you a map of the area.

Park on drive - Was ok but close by drives costing upwards of £20, I have now taken to parking just outside the permit area, takes me 20 mins to walk, then a 20min drive home its free and by far the fastest way......

I used to do this then we had our catalytic converter stolen off the car. If you’re “that” side of the ground, do you have anywhere you’d recommend where you won’t get your car smashed up haha. We were in victory Road. Ironically named

The key to using JustPark or MyParkingSpace for people's driveways, is to book at least a week in advance. I regularly get a driveway on Hen Lane, for £10 ish.

Usually park at Tesco and buy a voucher but with the road closures now in place will look to avoid this. Shame as it was technically free parking. Just not worth the extra 40 mins on top of a 100 mile drive.
