Pask and Baka (1 Viewer)

First two minutes he’s on the pitch, just watched:

Immediately closes down and wins a throw in in their half
Takes a high ball down and lays it off for the midfield (something neither of the other strikers did that much)
Takes up good positions in the box and moves their CBs Around
Should’ve won a free kick in the corner for being shoved

Fair enough criticise players when they’re poor but this is just ludicrous.
Agree he did play His part and looked lively against a tiring opposition. I would not call this 'form' from Baka but he did a job. In truth I think this is his niche and we see the best from him coming on 75-80 on the clock.

Would be great if bakka could score, you would see his confidence grow.

there were occasions when he scored in L1 and we thought it would be a springboard but it just never happened.
I would love Baka to come good but I just don't think it's going to happen unfortunately and a half decent 10 minute cameo last night isn't going to persuade me he will.

With five subs I’d be tempted to start him and say the second his levels drop he’s off. See what happens.

To be fair I think Max is more of a goal threat than Baka and if we had to start any of them I would go for Baka because off the bench Max is more likely to change a game coming on but both are sub standard at this level

At this level they are not offering a lot and a decent physical no 9 is needed maybe a lesser top quality 9 in the shape of a jordan huggill would be a good shout and it this level would average 12 to 15 goals a season as well as lay offs, flick ons for likes of godden, walker.

What I really do t understand with Baka is he has the attributes to be good enough at this level but not the application. He doesn’t throw his physicality around enough to upset opponents and doesn’t head the ball as you would expect (more often misses than connects). I like his closing down of the keeper and defenders and he certainly works hard but it isn’t enough. Last season when played he put in 10mins here and there when he was unplayable...turned defenders, rampaged forward etc and on occasion can finish calmly and clinically. If only he could do it over 90mins. But they are too few and far between. A good L1 squad player

Any player coming in needs game time to really get up to speed. Some are lucky and get an easy ride for a couple of games.

Fullback /wingback is one position where you can get exposed to a roasting. Even targeted by teams as a possible weak link.

Pask is playing out of position so we have to expect a few mistakes or positional errors.

Mistakes are made all over the pitch by all players. The ones that get highlighted are ones that lead to conceding a goal or failing to score a goal.

The rest are conveniently forgotten.

I don't disagree with that but Hugill joined Norwich for £5m & is on approx £30k p/w. Finding similar to fit within our budget is a very tall order.

He’s got the physical attributes but hasn’t got the brain I doubt we will see much of him or Pask again

To play devil's advocate Pask was being praised for his performance when coming on for the injured Dabo just two games ago
He made one error of judgement in the next game which led to a goal but otherwise did pretty well
It must have been crushing to be subbed at HT
I feel sorry for the lad
He has a lot of talent and I hope he recovers and has a good career
Goodness knows what stick he'd have got had he scored the og that Rose did

To be fair Rose also got quite a bit for that

Match sharpness probably the issue with that incident he looks too lax too casual all the time,he’s got good pedigree he’s come from a top academy had high hopes for him just hasn’t happened

Totally agree, I like Pask & hope he comes good.
I worry that being withdrawn at half-time might be the beginning of the end for him though.
The switch to a back 3 finally gave an opportunity for him to play in his natural position for the first time really but Robins preferred to play a half fit Rose (because of his passing ability I suspect).

I think we all know rose is levels above Pask which we will now see...rose passing is top draw glad to have him back

Pask definitely looks nervous out there which is hardly surprising, but that equaliser was so frustrating to watch. Rose better than Hyam on his day but I think we sorely miss McF in there.

A half fit rose is still ahead of Pask who I think has pretty much played his last game here

Feel sorry for him as well, also don't think we've ever seen him play in his preferred CB position while here. Assuming we stay up, probably best for all parties if he moves on to be a regular starter at L1/L2 level in summer

Pask has done ok in a flat back four (apart from that lapse in concentration against Forest), if we switch to wing backs then he gets no where near the team.

Pask has been a bit unfortunate tbh and played very well game before last - to be hooked at half time must be shattering for his fragile confidence....others who are golden boys make more mistakes and get away with a lot more.....Hamer for instance last game was fairly shocking consistently for the 90 minutes.

However I think we will go three at the back and agree he is not a wing back - however with our injuries I am not writing him off he may still have a part to play as may Baka truth be told given how low we are on strikers and face we may be forced to attack more and play two up top if results go against us in the next month.
