I guess it depends on why he “Couldn’t get in” the team at Charlotte.

Based on his performance last season it’s unlikely to be because of a lack of skill or stamina. Could just be that his style of play didn’t align to how they were playing.

The Charlotte fans said he joined towards the business end of their season. He was in pre-season mode and they were at full tilt. He couldn't get in the side because he was physically ready to add value.

Completely agree no brainer for me unless fl doesn’t want him next year

I think Paterson has to accept a deal to the end of the season and prove he is worth another year.
I see him as being possibly useful rather than essential. I have seen so many players over the years his age, pull out all the stops for a contract then go into retirement mode. He was hardly pulling up trees in the states.

Agreed although maybe joining during a potential promotion push might incentivise him a bit

6 month deal with a years extension triggered if he features in 10 league games. Simple.

All this speculation and the press (as far as I know) have not interviewed JP himself to see what's going on. They only seem to interview Frank and get on his case about it.

Lets face it, we are only 16 games from the end of the season but still in the FA Cup. He could get a winners medal out of it if we go one better than last year

I wouldn't be surprised if Doug isn't charging him for using our facilities hence the delay in signing him

I assume its simply a game of brinksmanship.

We will want to offer him as little as possible, performance bonuses, and a short term contract. His agent will want the reverse and will be sounding out other clubs to see the best deal he can secure.

Despite the comments on him being a Con fan etc he has throughout his career chosen the most lucrative option for him, and i doubt this behaviour is about to change now.

The last sentence sums it up. Fan or not, he has a reputation for turning us down which is disappointing and has tarnished his reputation to me as a fan

I don't really care about that, he's just gone where the money is. Most players do it, in fact most people do it. I'm just hoping he's fit because if he's still close to the level he was last season he'd be a useful option in an area of the pitch we need it, and now, with the window closed, no other options.

He is entitled throughout his career to seek the best deal for himself. But we don't owe him anything; so he either accepts what we offer or he doesn't. Personally I'm not bothered either way.
