Cant find the Tavares one yet, that looked more obvious than this one.

Shows how much the ref shit himself, he gave a corner.

Looked like a pen to me…and yeah, if it wasn’t a pen it certainly wasn’t a corner.

I don’t think the Tavares one was a pen.

As soon as Robins is back at work he should be calling the head of the refs in and asking him why these things are happening, there is no doubt since the Godden incident we have had the rough side of decisions.

Hyam one from a corner as well. All pens.

We’ve not had a pen since early November.

When was the Godden incident? Fulham in early October or something wasn´t it?

It is of course a separate argument as to whether we should be relying on them, but certainly we have had a few debatable penalties that aren´t being given.

Is it next year we get a light version of VAR so should start to get penalties again then

The referee couldn’t have been better positioned for the Gyokeres penalty a definite tug from the defender.
The ref just seemed out of his depth with a constant look of bewilderment on his face.

They used their arms and bodies really well to shield the ball and our players, especially their No 9 who was holding off all game. We should learn from this, there's only Gyro who tries this tactic for us.

Yeah that was my first thought but we had two more pens after that

All 3 were penalties in my eyes but I can almost understand him missing the Gyok one, from our elevated view it's clear (that replay doesn't even do it justice) but as @Johnnythespider said it was cute enough to be missed by the officials at ground level.

The Hyam one is mad, he can only have not been looking at it as it was away from the ball slightly?

Tavares I initially thought went down easily looking for it, on replay there looks pretty clear contact.

As others have said the referee didn't have the best night - some frankly farcical calls & non calls.

The Tavares one was about as clear a penalty as you'll ever see
I agree it's a penalty.

I think what doesn't help is that the ball is hoofed away from him and he's nowhere near it. You know like sometimes when that happens when the keeper comes out and takes a player out but the ball is running well wide so they don't get it.

I'm becoming worryingly close to wanting VAR.

See, I think that makes it more of a penalty.

You can't just boot someone down when they're nowhere near the ball.

The Hull number 10 for every corner had both arms around Gyokeres stopping him moving, sometimes pulling him down. Anywhere else on the pitch that's a foul but not in the penalty box. The ref and his assistant should not have failed to see it, Gyokeres repeatedly told them it was happening.

The officials matched our own very poor performance

i blame Sky, ever since the Fulham game where godden was alledged to have dived, ref's have been reluctant to reward a pen to us,

There's definitely been a Godden tax since that dive.

The Gyökeres one at Blackburn was the worst.

That's another thing I'd do.

I'd have someone for every corner positioned near the ref who's job is to look for instances such as holding and literally point them out to the ref. Eventually the ref can't ignore it any longer.

I too sat in 17 nearly half way up and very much in line and very good level with the pitch. The ref.who had an excellent view would have clearly seen it but chose not to take action. If you look when the ball comes over Gyokeres is in front of the defender whose arm clearly drags him round so he ends up behind him.Agree with frostie on the second .The Tavares one other end but the replay says everything the ball was halfway to COH when the tackle came in I do hope the assessor took note. Will be interesting to see where he does his job next

The Gyökeres incident happens 3-4 times every game. It’s seldom given as a penalty. The manhandling of players at corner kicks happens at every single corner in every single English league. Did no one ever notice what Richard Shaw got up to when he played for us?

The foul on Taveres was a stone-cold penalty. 15 mins from the end if we had scored (and Godden and Waghorn were both off the pitch) we might have had some real momentum. But we also might have missed. And Hull were the better team last night. Their tactics (crowd out Gyökeres and fill the defensive space between our front players and the wing backs) were excellent.
