People getting excited over nothing (1 Viewer)

I may be wrong of course but I think the noises coming from SISU at the moment are nothing to get excited about.

I think the simple explanation is that ACL came out with their statement "We won't negotiate unless we receive our money and SISU drop their legal action". Straight after SISU start spouting off about wanting to negotiate and strike a deal to come back to the Ricoh.

This puts ACL in a bad light with SISU saying they are willing to talk but ACL won't. SISU are putting pressure on ACL to negotiate without SISU paying owed rent and without dropping their legal action.

That's my opinion, I really hope something does come out of the latest goings on, but I doubt it very much.

Mark, as I have asked others who share that view... What do you think is their master plan if they don't want a return?

ACL asking for what they are owed, how does this put them in a bad light?

It's very simple if SISU are serious. SISU pay the 590 grand or whatever it is, drop the legal action, then ACL are happy to talk. Seems a very reasonable response.

Sisu do want a return,, but only if they own the Ricoh,, to pay or help ACL sustain and increase the balance sheet does not make sense if your Sisu... You have to understand Sisu care about Sisu and Sisu's investors, they do not care about the club, fans or city, it's being used to gain control of the only thing that can be sold for profit.., The FL need to sort out what is due to ACL pay them within 24 hrs of the decision and see how Sisu react to this.. I bet talks wouldn't be any time soon if the FL make Sisu pay, they will drag the courts until that avenue is dry..

And before the question comes at me about why i care if ACL get paid. Answer, i want to ACL talk to Sisu knowing money has been settled and except courts are ongoing, therefore except talks with sisu... I want to see Sisu except talks having paid monies so this can't be used as an excuse for any breakdown of talks..Both parties will have to bend so courts ongoing, but a debt paid is fair and the way forward,, its now up to the FL to do the right thing for once and force the hand of both parties to talk... No get out clauses, no dates, no what if's,, either sisu pay or they don't..

Simple really, and it's been stated time and time again. SISUs plan is to devalue the stadium, stress ACL and get the freehold on the cheap. The judge in the JR sad as much. What they are doing now lines up with this idea. Seems obvious to me that this is the most likely thing SISU are doing. I don't think SISU are even trying to hide it that much, such is their arrogance.

So we come to the billion dollar question... How long can they afford to wait?

How long is a piece of string? They (SISU) have engineered the situation so their outgoings (as far as ccfc are concerned) are at a minimum. I think they were counting on a few more fans than 2000 a week though. At the same time they have continued their campaign of stressing ACL. I don't know SISUs or ACLs financial details so I can't guess who will give out first.

But they have been found out and in my opinion have zero chance of getting the Ricoh in any form. It simply won't happen.

What was it "hell will have to freeze over first." Basically it has no chance of ever happening. ACL or freehold.

So what is their master plan of staying away? My opinion is they haven't got a clue. The evidence seems to suggest I'm right.

It doesn't matter. ACL will never go bust. They pay a very low mortgage to ccc who own 50% of ACL. It will never go bust. Ccc obviously hate sisu and will never let them have a stake in it. That's why we are where we are.

Sisu did have a master plan. We all know it and the judge has confirmed it all. Now they haven't got a master plan and don't have a fregin clue. They seem to be staying in Northampon for staying away sake.

The evidence all suggests in 7 years of ownership to not having a clue about anything to do with ccfc and 2014 and 2015 will be exactly the same. Do what you always done and you will get what you always got. Stick with these imcompetant dicks and you will keep getting shit results. Simple really isn't it.

You need to ask Seppala rhat one Samo.

Not much longer it seems to me. The fantasy stadium now seems to have been abandoned and the rhetoric has moved from ownership only and we have moved on...to rather sheepish talk of reconciliation and rental deals. As king points out, they will never own the Ricoh and they know it. Very few cards left to play.
They want and need a deal.

Yup, and it is not as if they haven't cocked up just about everything else they've done either.

You are quite correct. SISU own the Golden share or "sports franchise" as ACL term it. SISU treat CCFC as a franchise so why would they care what town you play in?

What a fucking silly remark. Lets see how many 'customers' they have after 5 years in Northampton? It won't happen of course but just sayin!

I hope you're right. But living here in Northampton we saw property developer Winkie steal Wimbledons golden share to meet his Section 106 planning requirements to get Asda build him a stadium for free.

Sisu seem to be interested in using the club to get real estate too. Do you really think they give a toss about the team?

He doesn't say they don't want a return. Just that they don't want one now.

He's right. We're still in distress ACL mode. There's no intent to negotiate.

Except ACL don't term it that.

For a neutral fan, you're not very neutral. Every thread you post in you have this ridiculous agenda about a franchise team.

They wouldn't if long term the value of the club increased by being elsewhere.

Will respect I cannot see a second team in Northampton being worth more than one team in coventry.

But they did! They referred to getting "some other sports franchises" into the Ricoh.

And that's what I think is going wrong with football in this country. Football clubs should represent their town. And not just have their Golden Share used and abused as franchises for property developers and hedge funds.

Do you think Winkie was more motivated by a free stadium for himself or having a football team in Milton Keynes? Are Sisu more interested in getting some cheap real estate or guiding a midlands football team up a division or two?

Bit of an update for all concerned - mate of mine had a meeting with Joy, and came out of it with the strong feeling is that she is determined to build the new stadium which will be funded through a Tesco-Ricoh style deal - there is a lot of work going into it, and Joy is personally getting involved. She thinks an interim deal at the Ricoh is unlikely so buckle your seatbelts for a few more years at Sixfields followed by a move to a 12k ground at a new retail park in north Cov.

Whatever, no stadium will be IN Coventry. Even SISU have said that.

OK maybe a mile or so out of the city boundary - I won't go, but it doesn't make much difference if the ground is just inside or just outside the city limit. A retail park is a retail park

Very bleak scenario.

Four, five, maybe even six years in Northampton and then back to a smaller stadium, further outside the city.

Yep - my mate and I agreed that it is gloomy news. She doesn't think they can get the Ricoh or even do an interim rent deal, so the contingency plan is in full swing. Joy thinks that people will come back if the team is successful, which answers the question of who will still be around to turn up in 5 years time

I can't see where a suitable retail site could be.. Coventry is pretty much covered.

Morrisons Alvis & Binley
Sainsburys Tile Hill, Town Centre, Austin Dr
Tesco Arena, Walsgrave, Cannon Hill, Clifford Br Rd
Asda Whitely, Walsgrave

If there is any truth in this then it's desperate news.

Another 4-5 years at Northampton will virtually wipe out what remains of our supporter base. We've lost enough as it is after 1 year, there are plenty od people who still went to away games last year who are on the verge of jacking it in completely.

It isn't news at all, she's been saying this shit for 18 months, this doesn't make it any truer than it ever was. This is the party line and their bargaining position. They will continue with it until a deal is done. This changes nothing.

If she said this I suspect it is wishful thinking rather than something that has been agreed. Supermarkets, or indeed any big box type stores, are not expanding in the way they were when the Ricoh / Tesco deal was done.

Tesco are sitting on about 300 sites which they have purchased but aren't proceeding with as the levels of custom at these type of stores is dropping off very quickly as home delivery and smaller more local stores takeover.

The attraction for Tesco in the Ricoh deal was the release of land previously unusable / unavailable in an under served area. Is a piece of land outside of the city really going to be an attraction for anyone and even if it was couldn't they just buy it themselves without having to fund a stadium for SISU.

If Joy is saying things like that then it seems to me they don't have investors who will fund the stadium.
