Although delighted to be
going back to the Ricoh, Steven Pressley has expressed concerns about the condition of the playing surface after the pitch was partially covered for a recent event.
The City boss took a trip up to the stadium with his backroom staff yesterday afternoon to check out the surface and had hoped his players would be able to train there next Thursday ahead of their
first match against Gillingham.
But he said: “I’ve had a conversation with the people up there and it all depends on how the pitch recovers over the next week.
“To be honest it’s not great at this moment and there needs to be quite a lot of work done on it, but as Neil MacFarlane said, we’d rather be there than Northampton.
“My concern is that in three months time it will be really poor but we’ll worry about that in due course.
“It’s meant to be good weather next week so hopefully we will see some growth in it, and fingers crossed it will recover quickly. A week can make a big difference.”
