Was at the game tonight, genuinely thought we would hold on for the win, guess that's the vast lack of experience showing. Despite the loss I thought we were ok for the most part, both us and Palace made a concerted effort to play passing football without a real cutting edge. We were quite comfortable in possession up until the edge of the Palace centre circle, whereupon we were devoid of ideas of how to transfer possession into a shot on goal.

Murphy 7 - Made a few decent saves and seemed fairly reliable under a cross and from corners. Was very vocal throughout in marshalling his back 4 and seemed to communicate well with Cranie and Keogh. Didn't have much chance with either goal.

Christie 6 - Gave an assured performance up until the 85th minute onwards, when he seemed to switch off. Skinned by Zaha for the winner and seemed to lose concentration when it was needed most at the end. However, won his fair share in the air and cleared his lines well, though would have liked to have seen a few more forward runs to support Juke and ROD.

Keogh 8 - Our MOM for me. Won everything in the air and was first to every cross and through ball that Palace mustered. Looks composed on the ball and distribution was close to flawless.

Cranie 6 - The less noticeable one of our current CB pairing, always going about his business quietly and efficiently. Noticed a few mistakes creeping in tonight, the occasional misjudged header or slightly careless positioning. Nevertheless, won his challenges and remains an indispensable team member, just needs to make sure he doesn't cross the fine line between composure and complacency.

Hussey 6 - Defended stoutly though was caused a few problems by Scannell's pace. Again, like Christie, wanted to see him overlap and push forward more but otherwise a solid performance.

Clingan - 7 Good performance. Very rarely gave the ball away and always ensured he kept ticking over, retaining the ball and frustrating Palace. Passing range was also good, only issue was he did sometimes look to pass when a hoof would have sufficed to clear the immediate danger.

Bigirimana - 7 First time I've seen young Gael and I was suitably impressed. Mature head for a 17 year old. Odd misplaced pass but otherwise good, always looked to show for the ball. Agree with previous posts that he could do with playing a bit further forward, both him and Clingan play quite deep almost doing the same role.

Thomas - 6 Didn't get involved as much as he should have, let the game pass him by too much. Looked comfortable on the ball and put in a couple of well timed tackles.

McSheffrey - 5 Not on for long but didn't look hugely willing to take his man on, a lot of sideways and backwards passes to Clingan and Bigi, without moving into space for a return.

ROD - 6 Full of running and willingness to chase but end product with the ball not good enough. Should have done better with his 1 chance, and still can't read Jukes knockdowns and flick ons.

Juke - 6 Felt sorry for him, worked hard on his own with minimal help and support, and wasn't given much from the ref either. Should have done a lot better with his chances, composure in front of goal needs work. Big hearted performance from at least someone who cares.

Subs:

Ruffles - 6 Did alright for his first pro game. Looked a bit startled and nervous early on as expected, but grew into the game and showed some neat touches.

Anyone agree/disagree?

Murphy was a major fault for the last goal, he fumbled a comfortable shot.

I was there too, we played okay again, but just had too many youngsters out there tonight and not enough know how. Still played well though, defended brilliantly as a team for 90 minutes but once Zaha swapped wings it changed the game and in the last 8'mins of stoppage time we undid all our hard work and imploded. Can't fault the lads or the manager they are in desperate need of help. Everyone of them ran their bollocks off tonight.

Murphy - 5 - At fault for the last goal, cost us a point.

Christie - 6 - Done okay, Zaha gave him a bit of a hard time in the last 5 mins.

Keogh - 9 - absolutely class tonight , headed everything

Cranie - 7 - Solid

Hussey - 6 - Okay, got beaten easily a few times.

Thomas - 6 - wasn't in the game much, but when he was he looked comfortable on the ball.

Bigimana - 6 - See above

Clingan - 7 - good performance again

Mcsheffrey - N/A

Juke - 8 - Ran his bollocks off all night, in desperate need of a partner.

O'Donavon - 7 - done well to be fair to him

Can't fault the effort levels, thought we played well in spells.

Again Sammy, Gael, and Jukebox impressed.

Not impressed with Murphy and the second Palace goal though... was totally preventable.

Should also be noted that RO'D and Juke had chanced to put the game 2-0 and potentially bag the points.

Overall, devastated how the game ended.

My thoughts from last night:

To be honest I didn't think Sammy had that great a game. He barely made a pass forwards.

Out of the kids I thought Gael was very good. Played better than Sammy in my opinion. Tried a few more things. I would like to see him keep the ball more.

What we really lacked was a tough tackling midfielder. Palace were able to keep possession for long periods last night and our midfield just couldn't tackle. I know we edged it in possession but most of that was in our last third and the middle.

The lack of wingers was a major problem for more than one reason. Firstly there was very little support for Juke and secondly our flanks were left very exposed. Both their goals coming down our right flank.

I really felt for Juke last night. He was exhausted after about an hour. He ran his socks off and every time the ball was played up to him their CBs had him in a full nelson (literally). He still won about 75% of the balls. No wonder when he got his chance he missed as he lacked the energy to put his laces through it.

We definitely need another striker. Juke needs support as well as a rest at times.

As for Murphy. Yes he spilled the second goal, but for the first goal he made an incredible save before it came back to Scannell.

Over all I felt that we did not deserve to win but we probably didn't deserve to lose.

yeh Murphy made an awesome save in the build up to the first one. We should have dealt with the follow up better.

Biggie, especially the first half, was superb and outshone Sammy.

Conor Thomas was quiet first half but was very good after the break.

Ruffles had a quiet game, looked scared to get involved when he first came on, but had a couple of decent breaks in the second half. We have to remember Ruffles and Thomas were not only making their league debuts, but were doing so out of position.

Cranie and Keogh were absolutely superb throughout.

I was very proud of the lads last night and their performance. Absolutely gutwrenching to lose like that.

Murphy was to blame bigtime for the 2nd.............simply not good enough. The 3rd at Bury was also bad handling.

I used to think Westwood stood on his line too much at set pieces but Murphy is ten times worse.

His handling is the worse i've seen off a city keeper since fabian debec......and don't get me started on him.

I'd give him one more game against Watford and if he costs us again............play Dunn.

At risk of knocking Murphys confidence, I would give Dunn a shot.

He did have critics at the Cobblers, but he is a decent 'keeper.

Murphy is a decent keeper and as good as most in this division - we were simply spoiled by having Westy and it only once he's gone do we realise how good he actually was - (although I know for some now he has gone he was over rated garbage).

Didn't go to the game myself, but I think Murphy probably could of done better for both the goals (definitely the winner)

For gods sake who next? Never seen so many players slagged off after each of the three games. We're thin we have no money and no points. We need solidarity and for god sake give the guys a chance.
