A group of Stoke “lads” came into the Cherry Tree after the game.

They were brilliant offering their congrats and wishing us well.

They were well aware of the shit we’ve been through and couldn’t compliment our team and fans enough.

Not knocking any the players as they were brilliant but if Diouf could finish the scores wouldn’t quite be quite as high!

Whilst I agree with the previous assertions that Haynes wasn't on long enough to get an overall score, I think he is worth a mention for being the first to the ball, and heading away both of Stokes corners, late on, when they were all going for it. Didn't expect it to be him clearing it under pressure twice!

two cracking headers away

O’Brien 6 some really bad kicks first half and comedy keeping at times 2nd half but got away with it
Grimmer 8 had his work cut out last half hour against Ramadan but great goal and was getting forward well first half
Davies 9 best game so far
Willis 8 great goal, would have got 9 but for giving pen away
Stokes 7 had the easiest afternoon out of the back 4
Doyle 8 typical performance hats off to his fitness levels
Bayliss 8 brilliant first half / took a knock early in 2nd and thought he’d have to go off but did well to battle through it
Shipley 8 was out on his feet by the end
McNulty 8
Biamou 8 thought that was his best game for us

O'Brien: 7 - Some really poor kicking and a few dodgy moments, but on the whole he was great. Put himself in front of everything.

Grimmer: 7 - Slightly harsh as he got the winning goal, but Ramadam beat him more times than not.

Willis: 8.5 - His best game in ages. Brilliant header too.

Davies: 8.5 - Absolutely class again. He is a brilliant defender. Good game after good game from him.

Stokes: 8.5 - Best he has played in ages too. Worked his socks off.

Doyle: 7.5 - Struggled earlier on to keep the nippy Allen from dictating things, but was brilliant at rallying the lads in the second half. The fact this man continues to pull out good performances at his age is phenomenal. An adopted Coventrian.

Bayliss: 9 - Phenomenal. No reason why he can't be as good if not better than Madderz. Since he's come in we have been a significantly better team. He looked as good as anyone they had today.

Shipley: 7.5 - Ran himself into the ground. A better performance than a few of his recent games.

Drew: 8.5 - What a brilliant debut. An iconic moment in the second half when he was dancing around 2/3 Stoke players. He will be key for us this season.

McNulty: 7.5 - His movement was superb and showed some great touches. Have to lower his rating because of his two chances, on another day he'd have had 3.

Biamou: 9 - What a performance. Against a player for years touted to be one of the great CB he absolutely bullied him from minute one. The ball he put through to McNulty in first half literally cut their defence in two. He is a key player for us.

I can’t be bothered to think too hard re giving marks. All get a 10 from me; the effort and commitment was immense. Every single player left everything on the pitch; They gave their all for each other, for the manager and for us fans. Robins also got it right and deserves credit for getting that performance from the team. Also his tactics seemed spot on throughout.
10 also for us fans. Best atmosphere up the Ricoh for ages; who says our fans no longer care?
And finally all those stoke fans who congratulated us with dignity after the game...a 10 for them

So no soulless bowl today?

As I've said on many occasions, that argument is a crock. It is only soulless because of the spiralling demise in results on the pitch for many years and then the resulting drop off of fans.

A winning team and anything over 15,000 and that place can easily be rocking.

The acoustics at Ricoh are second to none.

They had between 3/4 k fans and when they sang together it was LOUD!

I always maintain when we sing together as one. It is loud! We have the stadium, when we get the fans together it’s unreal.

I was sat with 3 Rotherham fans who needed the Ricoh for 90 league grounds. They all commented on how good atmosphere was.

O’Brien 7.5 surprise inclusion today and stood up well to the challenge and late barrage. Few kicking errors but we're used to that. Staked his claim for the gloves again.

Grimmer 8 excellent, deserved his goal got forwards well and had had his hands full in the last 20 mins.

Willis 8 a huge goal that was well taken and a excellent all round performance slightly overshadowed by a sloppy challenge for the pen. A rock next to Davies today.

Davies 9 simply brilliant, a assist, headed, blocked, smashed and cleared everything that came his way. Excellent double blocks near the end with the rest of the team digging in. MOTM.

Stokes 7.5 solid enough today, wasn't short for pace and dealt with everything thrown his way

Doyle 7.5 got to work doing the ugly aspects, nibbling and biting using all his experience. Captains performance.

Bayliss 8.5 another mature performance, lads got a huge future ahead of him. Classy.

Maguire-Drew 8 exciting player! For a man who's missed some game time and short on fitness I'm excited for the second half the seasons. Good debut linking up well, tricky player.

Shipley 7 a good game, reliable in what he did and offered. Nothing fancy but sensible when in possession.

McNulty 8 work rate was excellent, if he could of only slotted home when beating Butland would of put the shine on his performance and kept his excellent form up.

Biamou 8 his best game today in a sky blue shirt. Like McNulty worked and defended from the front and gave Zouma issues, some good interceptions and gave McNulty his big chance. Growing in ability.

Stevenson 6.5 lightweight in his early challenges but grew stronger and came up to the occasion and level of his team mates.

Haynes 6.5 defended well and helped run the clock down and vital interceptions

I've championed for his place in the side and today he showed just what he can do. Old fashioned no nonsense display from Tom Davies and narrowly my MOTM in a side full of players giving everything in a classic cup tie on a shocking pitch.

Just watched the highlights and O'Brien looked dreadful. He was all over the place in spite of the saves he made.

I gave him a 6 and was lucky to get that

Have to agree, it seemed clear to me throughout the game that Burge is the better keeper. O'Briens kicking was poor as was some of his decision making - he was very lucky at times.

The acoustics were good because we were packed in together. Had that been 3-4 years ago when the stand behind the goal was open, then with 14,199 the atmosphere would have been gash. I know it didn't go down well with some but closing that stand was a good decision.

I really want to like o brien but let's be honest, if that was burge in net today and performed like that, people on here would be calling for his head. That second half attempt to a claim a ball that was nowhere near him and resulted in four blocks... Goodness me
I thought the defence looked far more confident with him. He comes for crosses and kicks well. He made 1 error with the missed cross but apart from that 2 grrat saves and general command of his area.
