players on holiday (1 Viewer)

Time off between seasons reduced due to our playoff endeavours and the World Cup interruption mid-season. So players won't have had the break they were contracted for. Guess the club have allowed the players some time to themselves and their families as keeping the players happy is as important as any attempts at fitness in this weather.

If we were bottom and looked like we couldn't string 2 passes together, I'd be a little concerned. MR and AV will have had this in hand so no need to be upset.

Do you fancy working every Saturday or Sunday? Tuesday or Wednesday nights? Most employees can ask for 2 weeks holiday between August and May, footballers can't.

My heart bleeds for them, dee dumms.

A lifetime as a service engineer working 24/7 doing a full days work leaving home at 6am and getting home (if you're lucky) at 7pm and then being called out anytime through night regularly in an area from the North Midlands to Devon and Cornwall including the whole of Wales was my lot.

Holidays.... I lost track of how many days/weeks/months I didn't have off due to constant resourcing issues.

No wonder I'm fit for f**k all now I've finally retired.

Professional athletes eh, yeah when it suits.

I wish you were my boss Harry, I come back from a 3 month break, and a month or so later you send me on holiday for a week! Lovely!
Preseason is often the hardest part of the season in terms of training intensity.

A few days to unwind and relax will do them no harm, it’s a long old season.

Sounds like you hate all footballers and football, because your chosen career made you bitter and twisted?

I think you misjudged the notion that anyone cares.

For the hard of thinking...
if you are a fit athletic professional committed footballer have a nice holiday.
If you are blowing out your arse after 60 minutes game after game, google ‘athlete’ and ‘professional’, have a look at yourself and sort the fooker out pronto.

No, I love football, not all footballers though.
The written word often doesn't convey ones true sentiments and can be misconstrued
Chosen career.... Loved it, prepared to put the amount of work and reap the benefits but it was at a cost, not bitter and twisted. I ain't no victim Hobo.

If you left at 6 and returned at 7 you didn’t do 24/7. Did you get Christmas Day off? Footballers don’t. New Years? Not there either. Saturdays? Lol.

To begrudge them a couple of days off after a shortened close season is ridiculous. Just because you disregarded your employment rights doesn’t mean everyone should 😂

Yeah whatever shmmeee.
Christmas Day, New Years Day, Easter, Saturdays, Sundays.... yep worked, ever been a service engineer on call have you?
You have no idea just how many people in this country work crazy hours for a variety of reasons.

Don't see the issue personally. Obviously they're paid a lot, but they can only take certain weeks of the year for holiday so as long as it doesn't impact when they're playing, I'm not arsed.
Mark Robins doesn't come across as the type of manager who accepts low fitness levels in the team either

If it isn't spite then why do you care what hours a footballer works?

I have been a service engineer on call. I didn’t get called out for 24 hours a day and I doubt you did either. No footballer ever gets NYD or Christmas Day because there’s always football scheduled.

If you are seriously claiming you never slept or had a day off in 40 years of working well then

This thread wouldn't exist if we'd beaten Watford

We didn't though sadly, and it enrages the fans seeing photos of Palmer and Latibeaudiere on holiday in Jamaica.

£37 a ticket. No shirts. Doug doing photo shoots instead of signing a CM.

Fair play to them. Let’s not forget they don’t get time off over Christmas and New Year like most people either.

Just like @bad boy that's their choice. No one forced them to become a professional footballer.

At the end of the day, if I was on £15k+ a week I probably wouldn't give a toss about working on a Christmas + New Years Day for 15-20 years.

Let's not get all sympathetic towards people earning ridiculous amounts of money for what is a piss easy job that we all wish we were good enough to do.

That's the thing though, the majority of us are not good enough to do it, so no need from jealousy from anyone. I will never be a brain surgeon, I'm not jealous of the time they take off and their working hours, especially if they are private, just an example by the way, there are more jobs out there that I couldn't do
