Wasn't going to do this as we're going to Hull but after last night thought, "fuck it", why not do both.

We should do what England do for away games. 70% of allocation goes to those with top points, other 30% gets balloted to those others with membership who apply. Gives everyone a chance - it’s not massive for some games, but there is always a chance and it stops it being a closed shop.
Downside is quite a lot of admin for ticket office, although for the 30%, could just release online at certain point.

FFS. It's not a 'closed shop'.

Those who can get tickets for games like Oxford and Luton have enough points because.....? What?

To be fair it isn't bullshit, the majority obviously don't but there are some that do, I personally know someone who still buys tickets to away games he cannot make and sells them at face value to friends who cannot go

Then it's a tiny problem that can be ignored without the whole system being labelled a "closed shop".

Why should we do this ?

A high proportion of games this season have gone to general sale So plenty of opportunity to build points.
Strangly though this subject only seems to come up when we are doing well.
Yes, I’m in the 2000 bracket and quite simply I deserve first choice.
I was there at Forest Green, Carlisle and also last night where I rocked up back at my house in Hampshire at 2:30am
i don’t claim to be a super fan as some think but I’ve done the mileage and earned the right.

It amazes me that some couldn’t be arsed to go to the likes of WBA, Sheffield Wednesday etc but think they should be entitled to a Luton ticket (Example)

So again, tell me why we should allocate

So you want 300 of 1000 tickets at Luton going to day trippers? If you want away tickets get them when they go on general sale and build up points. Fans get points by going to all the games and paying good money, not turning up when they fancy a big game and day out
I personally think it gives more fans a chance who struggle to get to some games for whatever reason, whilst still rewarding those most loyal.

I know it is a compromise, but I don’t reckon it can be too bad if England have used it for the last 20+ years. It really depends on your definition of “day trippers” I guess.

There is another difference of course, at England you have to collect tickets personally so it reduces scope for the massive abuse that goes on with Coventry tickets under the current system. I also realise that a 70:30 split wouldn’t sort this either.

It’s just a view though, and I understand people with high points defending the current system - of course you don’t want it changed, why would you!

How many England games go to general sale or don't sell out?
If you have 10 points for City you could have gone to a large number of away games this season.

It's a ridiculous suggestion. Even if there was a percentage 30%is laughable

Depends on away capacity so I would say a mix similar to Coventry games
The allocation England receive is often lower than we receive for Championship games. The tickets are often cheap as well, for Italy away they were 18 euros. The England system does get abused and you see loads of tickets being sold the week before a game or if the tickets are cheap for away games they buy and just don't go.

For home games yes, there is abuse but for away games you have to collect them in person either the day of the game or the day before in the host city. So, yes you could travel and then pass them on but that is highly unlikely so abuse is negligible.

Some tickets are definitely cheap but there are some expensive ones - Ireland away was I think €60 euro last year so it does vary.

The Ireland tickets were a bit of an anomaly. I haven't paid anywhere near that for any other away games outside of tournaments. I've seen the away tickets being abused. The bloke in front of me collected 5 tickets as he was the one who booked them for him and his mates then was bragging they had all chipped in to pay for 1 flight and he was going straight back to the airport. I know that's an extreme but it obviously is happening.

Can you expand further on the “massive abuse” including evidence that you have of this

I have no issue with the ticket system being reviewed just to make it clear

the problem I have is those jumping on the bandwagon and saying “it’s a closed shop” when it’s quite simply not.

Plenty of games have gone to general sale this year, plenty of opportunity to increase points.

This issue was not a problem in November when we were in a relegation battle but as we are pushing play offs it suddenly is.

Why should I as someone who goes to about 18 away games a season lose my ticket for someone who does 2-3 ?

Yes sure “massive abuse” Bristol C in the Carabao half empty despite being “sold out”.

It's not a closed shop when the majority of away games are available to everyone

People on here saying they can't get to Hull away on a Monday due to work or other reasons that are fair but we've had plenty of away games this season that have been at the weekend that have gone general sale
I agree, the closest games or the small allocations always seen to sell. Plymouth went to general allocation last year. Valentine’s Day/ Tuesday seemed to be the reason.

It helps if the team are on a losing streak as well 😵💫

Hull City game still on sale.

Wasn’t half empty. But you are right. A fair few must have decided to take advantage of the low ticket cost. It was a no brainer. £10 quid and 20/30 pts. Went to the league game a couple of weeks later. There was still room in the stand even though the allocation was full. They seem to keep the allocation low for that stand. It holds 3900. We were allocated 3000.

Yeah it definitely wasn't half empty. A few gaps but it was mostly full.

If anyone is from Cov and genuinely wants tickets but struggles to get the then look at what the Tav offers and hope they offer they same next season. It is join their supporters club and they'll make sure you get a ticket via them if you also purchase coach travel.

You don't get the points but you get a ticket.

To state there is "massive abuse" is quite frankly laughable. I'm sure it happens, but the instances must be tiny compared to those who don't do it.

We went to both Bristol City games ten days apart. Yes, there were gaps for the Carabou fixtures but it certainly wasn't half empty.

There were gaps around me at Sunderland back in November. Burnley too. Didn't see too many complaints on here about a "closed shop" back then.

Me and my lad don't do every game, but we'll have done 18 by the end of the regular season, assuming I will get Luton tickets. Loads of those will have gone to general sale or a low points tally.

The current system is the fairest. There's no way I think there should be any kind of ballot.

I dread to think of the moaning on here if we ever did get to the PL. Imagine a sellout crowd of STHs every home match. Could happen.

Could this be the the route to some of our fans questioning the behaviour of of others, say like SU?

Why, they are an official supporters club? You are free to pay the 10 quid membership if you want? They also get less tickets than other SC's

Stop being a mardy c**t because you haven't been to enough games and your 30% idea was shite.

Could be, must people I know who use their coaches don't use that service but it was there for people who can't get tickets another way.

Well, that’s a nice, friendly reply - apologies for trying to offer an opinion that differs to yours - I thought that was the whole point of a forum.

And just out of interest, how do you know that I haven’t been to enough games - maybe I am not just thinking about myself?

Given your post actually sort to shut down a differing opinion I do find this reply a tad rich.

People have options, they can go to more games or they can join a SC who may help them get tickets.

There is no reason that can justify say 600 tickets going to people who may have never been before. It's not fair on those that go every game.

What’s the logic behind supporters clubs getting tickets at all? It’s a joke
