What an utterly stupid response.

Please name me one other player whose been a success for us in the Championship and barely played the season before due to being bombed out of their former club. Not including Moore seeing as keepers don’t require the same level of fitness as outfield players.

Obviously I want Palmer to do well here but it’s never a good sign when the manager is talking about it taking months for a footballer to ready to start games.
Gyokeres, Kane, Bidwell

Gyokeres was pretty average for us in his loan spell after coming from Swansea, and only kicked on after he’d had a spell of games for us to get back up to full fitness with us, which perfectly highlights my point in regards to Palmer, in that if we want to improve on last season’s performance we should be aiming higher than players who might be good after they’ve had a few months of coming off the bench.

As for Bidwell and Kane, not sure you can call them successes yet anyway but Kane played 28 games for QPR the season before joining us, and 32 the season before that, while Bidwell played 16 in the first half of last season and 39 the season before so neither are at all comparable.

Gyokeres was a different player after a full pre-season.

Robins is also managing expectations.

Isn't it easier to wait and see and judge him after a few games?

On the other hand, have we ever signed anybody in that situation in the Championship? Joe Cole was bombed out at Villa and wasn't too bad in League 1.

Gyo is now worth ten times what we paid for him, I'm sure no one would mind too much if the same thing happens with Palmer

Well yeah, that’s fair enough. It’s nothing to do with footballing ability anyway, I haven’t got an opinion on that, I’ve barely seen him play and I’m looking forward to seeing how he gets on here. I’m purely talking about fitness. Attacking mid is a crucial position for us when we play the box, and if we want to push for play-offs this year it’s not ideal for us to sign someone to be first choice and then have the manager talk about how he’s not going to be fit for months.

No-one would, but I’m purely talking about the here and now. It’s just the reality of the market that we can afford to buy in that the only players who are available to us are going to have baggage like fitness issues etc. which means we’re then playing catch up with them while the season is going on.

Again, surely we need to wait and see?

Robins is always managing expectations of players. He isn't going to be the fittest player on the pitch in the first game but not many ever are.

The fact that he couldn't get a game under Nigel Pearson is a good sign

I’m sure someone said its on Portsmouths ifollow

I've just been on to have a look and it doesn't seem like they have it listed. You can buy actual tickets for the ground, but can't see an ifollow option.

Anyone had better luck?

how come its all ticket and restricted to 400? seems odd, not like they can be expecting trouble or a sold out crowd!
