That kind of reasoning doesn't wash with Pompey OSB. The club deserves zero sympathy-the fans have nothing to do with the way it's been run or the way it's making a mockery of League rules. That said, they enjoyed 2 trips to Wembley and European football as a result of that recklessness-and if the worst came to the worst, they would reform with the previous club's honours kept in their name. With that reasoning, it hasn't all been bad for them.

No i know it doesnt BSB but it made me feel better . Lets face it plenty of clubs over spend. Am not agrieved at their supporters but i am at the owners of Pompey who have been grossly negligent at best, and the FL who are toothless and inept.

The fans had their their glory moments, in a sense I dont begrudge that, but there is always a price to pay and their club was built on sand with no real willingness to even recognise the rocks let alone steer away from them.

Dealing in finance myself it just beggars belief how these multi miliion pound organisations are run. Any other business sector and heads would roll and companies would go out of business.

Just annoys me

Well said, as always, OSB.

Perhaps we should email these well-articulated posts to the football league, the football league show, and mr Cameron - who seems to have some sympathy to their plight?

It appears that some clubs are more fashionable, to empathise with their situation, and others are less fashionable to warrant any care, concern or support.

A level playing field, and, more importantly, equal treatment, is all we ask. There are plenty of clubs in the same boat as us, but why are Pompey afforded greater generosity from all quarters of the media and football authorities?

I agree, BSB. Forwarding our views on what is happening at Pompey to the FL and other interested parties may concentrate their minds on what is fair and what is not. But I don't suppose that anyone will listen :thinking about:

It seems ironic to have financial fair play rules, yet what is happening is everything but financial fair play?

Why did the premier league pay, prematurely, the parachute payment? To help keep them afloat, would appear to be the answer. Well, mr PL, we hope to be in the PL within twenty years, so, can we have an advance to help us get there?........

As Harsh as it can be, Portsmouth should go out of business, but I don't think they will as Chanrai will save them to save himself.

Bear in mind that most of those in the bodies of the football League and Prem come from within football clubs. I think the only way the football authorities will do anything is if a big club goes up the wall. (Sorry but I already mentioned this on a previous post) It'll be the same as if you live on a busy road and complain to the council about how dangerous the road actually is but nothing will be done until there is a serious injury or death.

I have no problem with the fans, as with all fans all you can do is support your club with tickets and merchandise. As fans all you can do is hope that the people in charge get the right players for the right price and get your team success. Rangers and Port Vale are also in trouble, but Portsmouth have ignored there previous warnings, 3rd time in 14 yrs, 2nd time in just 2yrs.

Not a great deal was done 2yrs ago when the Sh1t hit the fan. E.g a club in the Prem (Portsmouth) went into admin, every one (within football) breathed a huge sigh of relief when they were saved, especially the clubs owed money.

There is a great deal of talk that U.E.F.A are introducing the Fair Finance rules, but when. I hear that League 1 already has these rules, however I was talking to a Yeovil fan when we 'City' played Forest, he told me these rules only affect League 2 at the moment.

Portsmouth:- a sacrifice/wake up call to save the rest of football.

If they are in administration they can't say they have funding for next season so they should have a transfer embargo like us and brum for not posting accounts last month.Academy players are registered with FL so should be counted as part of squad wether they play or not

Michael Appleton has ef-fectively written off Benjani and Kanu from his Pompey plans for the rest of the season.

He said: ‘The message I will be sending is that I certainly wouldn’t be expecting too much from Benjani and Kanu in the run-in.'

‘I could have 25 strikers at the club but if none of them are above five goals, they are not going to be much use to anyone.'

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Stephen Henderson finally completed his move to West Ham yesterday in a deal which should net Pompey a loan fee of around £700,000.
West Brom midfielder George Thorne also extended his loan stay at Fratton Park for another month.

That is the pledge from Michael Appleton as the clock ticks down towards the end of the emergency loan window.
Nottingham Forest have joined the pursuit of the Blues’ joint-top goalscorer, ahead of Thursday’s deadline.
In addition, Appleton is aiming to bring in loans to replace departed duo Hayden Mullins and Stephen Henderson.
However, he is unsure about which positions he will strengthen.
He added: ‘You can only play five loans and we have three in the building at the minute.
‘I will be looking to bring two in before Thursday otherwise we’ll be up the creek without a paddle.

They have played and have beaten Portsmouth twice this season, if Portsmouth do go under, West Ham will lose six points and will effectivly be out of the automatic promotion race. So its in West Ham's best interests to pay the fee upfront.

Surely Appleton should have no say in what constitutes a "substantial offer" and whether it should be accepted - the only person who can make that decision and make it on behalf of the creditors not Portsmouth is the Administrator Trevor Birch. Seems like Appleton is living in some sort of parallel universe but it is still galling when we are playing with the rules and cannot get any loan players in and this bunch simply replace one body with another. Seems like the FL has a guilty conscience about letting the various crooks take Pompey over and are now bending over backwards to help them.

Or are these fees an upfront agreement for a sale.

I'm really starting to take a dislike to Michael Appleton. The guy is clueless about wanting more players and it now appears he's blind. Comments he made ahead of Portsmouth v Hull tonight, looking back at the game against us

-well i'm looking at the stats Mikey lad, and they show we had 54% possession to your 46%. From actually watching the game properly i would have been surprised if you were actually correct, but alas, you're not. Oh, you do however seem to have edged us on shots yes. But i reckon we could have upped our shots tally too if we'd taken pot shots from 40 + yards that sail harmlessly over the corner flag ala Ben Haim. You must be proud of all those attempts.

He is a knob, only have to look at his previous interviews. Moaning he only has 15 senior players available when they are all on 10k+ a week when we have about 12 senior players who are on <8k a week.
