The Administrators report also shows that they have so far spent 1,652 hours dealing with the administration, at a cost of £525,000, which they have not yet been paid.
£317/hour, its an ill wind, (they will certainly take their money in due course).
Why would anyone think they will honour the previous CVA let alone a new one.
Seems to me company law is a shambles and I bet SISU will be no different should they feel the need.

Depends on the team? How many overpaid players are at teams like Darlington?

I was more meaning the overpaid players at Portsmouth.

Compared to how much I was earning as a bus driver, when I was living in the UK for a 40 hour week, I was taking home (after tax) around £250 a week.

I also know an ex pro footballer, finished his career at Grimsby when they went down to the conference, he wouldn't say how much he was on exactly, but what we could get out of him was in the region of £2,000 per week. He lived in his football bubble, he was amazed that people, in regular work were on as little as £250 a week, he thought I would be on over £1,000 a week.

However I did a little bit of reasearch. this is from a non-league forum.

I'm a non-league footballer at Eastbourne Borough in the Blue Square Premier. We are one of only 2 clubs in that league not to be full time! Even though it is a non-professional league, all but a few of the players that I know at EB live entirely off their football income, which ranges from around £250 a week for players graduating from the reserves and youth, to around £700 as the top earner, plently to live off. As we only train 2 evenings a week presently, there is plently of time for the players to have other jobs, and there are definitely a few who fill their spare time labouring, building, plastering and the like to suplement their income!

ive worked with a few at conference south level that were getting paid £2000 a week, but to be fair they were playing way below what they should of been at the time.

I used to have a lot of sympathy for Portsmouth fans and a bit of a soft spot for the club. But even some of their more reasonable and educated fans see nothing wrong with what there doing or playing the system the way they are. I wouldn't be too upset if they were made an example of now.

Why should the likes of Man U receive all of their transfer fees, Over priced players get their FULL wages and the tax payer gets just £3.64 now meaning cuts in services or higher taxes to cover the loses.

However their will possibly be a loop hole Portsmouth will find not to comply, such as they are already in admin so the rules will apply after the judgement.

Those miniscule percentages, if correct, are utterly shameful. Sounds almost as bad as the banking debacle. I can see why sympathy for pompey drained away long ago. The fact is though company law is as weak as tesco own label tea and they both serve to satisfy one objective; line the pockets of a few for the total dissatisfaction and disgust of the many. Mind you the Football League is pretty toothless.

It looks to me that they are in serious trouble now, the debt figures being released and even more concerning for them, is that they have not had one bid to buy the club.
It might make who finishes third from bottom a lot more important.

Ah, fair cop. Will be interesting to see how they do next season (assuming they stay afloat). Unless there's some serious investment their kids will probably have to make up the bulk of their squad, and ours should have a one year head start on them! Potentially only another 3 teams we need to be better than to stay up!

OK. AS I Understand it.

As the league table stands at the moment Portsmouth are Relegated anyway so no real change would happen in the championship. 3 Teams including Portsmouth will go down.

If Portsmouth were to finish above the Relegation zone, then liquidated, Portsmouth would effectivly be relegated and then be replaced by the 3rd from bottom team.

There liquidation will affect every league below.
As they would no longer exist an extra place would be available in lge 1, so the 4th from bottom team (at the moment Wycombe) would stay in lge 1 to address the balance and this would carry on throughout the pyramid.

OSB ,i would never challenge your intellegence as your the main man here, but as i read it, it reads to me that the club finishing third from bottom would be reprieved,the usual 3 clubs up from the next two divisions, then as you say the shortfall of one less club in the league would be took up by three clubs coming up from the conference.

I'm not feeling very intellegant today so if I am wrong i will hold my hands up and apologise.

In this case, with Portsmouth already in the bottom three, if third from bottom was reprieved that would leave only 2 clubs leaving the Championship (Pompy + Donny). If three were still being promoted that would mean one too many clubs in the league, and 2 too few in the league below.

Another way, stepwise dealing with relegation first.

Pompy disappear = 23 clubs in the Championship + 24 in L1
Donny relegated = 22 clubs in Championship + 25 clubs in L1
3rd bottom spared = no change

3 promoted from L1 = 25 in championship + 22 in L1.

i.e. third from bottom will still get relegated.

Hi Rev - am not certain I am right because the rules are not exactly clear . Wasnt thinking that Pompey could be fourth from bottom must admit but for that to affect anything they have to go bust during the season and I dont think that will happen.... they need to keep going to keep the registration to have any chance of their being a club next season what ever division. If they keep going then they will be relegated before they go out of business. If thats the case the option is to bring an extra team into Div 1 & Div 2 or leave it as it stands. In effect that leaves the Championship next season made up of clubs that have got there by merit of the current season

In the 2007-8 season.
Nuneaton Borough finished the Conference North League in 7th place. Nuneaton Borough folded and Nuneaton Town was formed starting 2 leagues below in the Southern League Midland the following season.

Boston United were relegated from their final position of 10th due to still being in administration

Hucknall Town finished in the 3rd from bottom relegation poistion, maintained their status in the Conference North the following season taking the place of Nuneaton.

Vauxhall Motors finished in the 2nd from bottom relegation position, maintained their status in the Conference North the following season taking the place of Boston.

Leigh RMI finished in the bottom position and were relegated.

Guys, I have no apologies for the defeat on Saturday, given we needed to win to ensure our promotion but wished the tables we such that we could have given your lot a chance to stay up and wanted to wish you all the best next year. It was a real pleasure to see you play with pride to the final whistle, to play your youth (we did 3 years ago when we went down). Don't be too disheartened, going down actually allowed us to rebuild some confidence in the club and was the springboard for where we have got to (along with the few millions Markus Liebherr pumped in and then wrote off). Happened to Norwich too.

Appleton is waiting to know exactly what budget he can work to, with Pompey still in administration and fighting to stay afloat.

POMPEY administrator Trevor Birch has confirmed Balram Chainrai is one of two parties interested in taking over the club.

Someone I was talking to the other day was saying actually that we probably do have to submit the accounts by a certain date so the football league know we can survive the season.

I'm sure Thorn dose have targets, but he isn't annoucing that he is talking to his targets, building up his/our hopes until he has some sort of budget sorted.

So how can Appleton talk to any one, making promises to a player that he should get a contract/wage at least similar to what he is currently on. Same as I don't expect Thorn to talk to players until he knows what he has to deal with, After all he's already had his fingers burnt publicly with the Le Fondre deal, and who knows what others deals fell through.
