Depends on the team? How many overpaid players are at teams like Darlington?
I'm a non-league footballer at Eastbourne Borough in the Blue Square Premier. We are one of only 2 clubs in that league not to be full time! Even though it is a non-professional league, all but a few of the players that I know at EB live entirely off their football income, which ranges from around £250 a week for players graduating from the reserves and youth, to around £700 as the top earner, plently to live off. As we only train 2 evenings a week presently, there is plently of time for the players to have other jobs, and there are definitely a few who fill their spare time labouring, building, plastering and the like to suplement their income!
i play in evo stik prem and i get 120 + bonuses
ive worked with a few at conference south level that were getting paid £2000 a week, but to be fair they were playing way below what they should of been at the time.
I think everyone in the know believe HMRC will win, especially when what follows has happened in the past:

Why should the likes of Man U receive all of their transfer fees, Over priced players get their FULL wages and the tax payer gets just £3.64 now meaning cuts in services or higher taxes to cover the loses.
However their will possibly be a loop hole Portsmouth will find not to comply, such as they are already in admin so the rules will apply after the judgement.
I've been reading the league rules, trying to understand is a better way of saying it, anyway as I read it, if Pompey go tits up this summer one less league club will be relegated from the Championship, not as i thought as one more will be promoted from league One
It looks to me that they are in serious trouble now, the debt figures being released and even more concerning for them, is that they have not had one bid to buy the club.
It might make who finishes third from bottom a lot more important.
The Rev
Im sorry if this has been mentioned above but its getting a long thread now and i can't be arsed to read it all.
What it may make a difference to, is the points totals, if their results are eradicated from the league. Remind me how Bristol did against them please?!
if pompey go out of business then which ever way you look at it 3 teams will drop out of the Championship (two relegated 1 out of business). As I understand it 3 teams will be promoted from League 1. The slack is taken up in League 2 where in theory an extra new team will enter the League. How they choose that team I dont know. However they dont have to bring in anyone and could simply operate on a reduced number of clubs
Michael Appleton believes a Pompey return could be on the cards for Chris Maguire
Appleton is waiting to know exactly what budget he can work to, with Pompey still in administration and fighting to stay afloat.
But that isn’t stopping him planning ahead and holding meetings with prospective signings for next season.
POMPEY administrator Trevor Birch has confirmed Balram Chainrai is one of two parties interested in taking over the club.
Mr Chainrai’s representatives said at last month’s creditors’ meeting that he will not see the club liquidated after previously urging the administrator to turn to him as a ‘last resort’.
Mr Birch said he is doing all he can to conclude a deal before the Football League’s annual meeting on May 31 and June 1 and is working with the authority to see if a buyer can be in place before a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) is agreed to bring the club out of administration.
Portsmouth still don't know if they will exist next season, Yet Appleton is talking to players.

So does this mean if they don't agree a CVA by May 31st, the league could deduct more points for next season, or if they cannot guarentee a team for next season could this be the time when the league desides to expel them from the league?

And what about City, will the club be under pressure to declare our accounts by the time this meeting takes place?
er, doesnt Thorn already have his "targets who want to come here" when we dont know if we will have a club next season
I'm sure Thorn dose have targets, but he isn't annoucing that he is talking to his targets, building up his/our hopes until he has some sort of budget sorted.
I'm sure Thorn said the other week that he has spoke to players and they want to come
