‘Therefore, the League has informed the administrator that it will not currently consider transferring the club’s share in The Football League to a new bidder.
‘This means that in the event that the PST bid does not succeed and Portsmouth do not exit administration before the end of the current playing season, the club will lose its membership of The Football League.’


So if they do exit admin by the end of the season, it's -10 points and relegation (currently 1/1000 with bet365...) and if they don't, it's liquidation. Either way, they're fked. :(

Feel sorry for the Pompey fans , most of which are fantastic supporters. They still get over 11000 even after the shit they have had in the last couple of years, fair play to them all.

This is of course a bit of an issue regarding play off places. They will probably link along until the end of the season as the football league will have a dilemma if not. However they have now been in admin for a year I believe so D Day must be soon.

Oh yea, I forgot that Cov Council is in our debt and is therefore is obliged to give us millions in subsidy....oh yea...it's we who owe them.

If you live in Coventry they are in your debt as they've essentially borrowed money on your behalf to pay off the mortgage on the Ricoh.

They are already past the year for administration but have had an extension. The more pressing deadline is that the FL have said they have to be out of administration by the end of the season or they will be thrown out. I would imagine their 10 point penalty will apply next season as it will have no impact on them next season.

Looking at what little financial information is available about the Trust takeover (which is actually likley to end up with the Trust holding a minority share, or at least the supporters side of the Trust) I wouldn't be surprised to see admin number 4 in the next couple of years. Their business plan, on the basis of which they have aquired this loan, is based on them being in L1 next season and increases in attendance and all commercial activities, including growth forcasts of 100% in some areas!

Interestingly buried in the information for the council meeting there's an extra £4m in parachute payments that has appeared from nowhere. Anyone have any ideas what's behind that?

Interesting point Grendel. I've just done a quick scan of the top teams results v Pompey.

Coventry took 1 point from their 1 game against Pompey
Walsall 6 points
Bournemouth 4 points
Yeovil 3 points
Brentford 3 points (1 game)
Swindon 6 points
Tranmere 1 point (1 game)
Sheffield Utd 3 points (1 game)
Doncaster 3 points (1 game)

If these results were expunged, the top of the table would look like this:
Doncaster 59
Tranmere 59
Sheffield United 58
Brentford 55
Yeovil 55
Bournemouth 54
Swindon 53
Coventry 52
and Walsall fall back to 46 points

I haven't worked out the impact on goal difference so that might affect the position of teams on equal points, but the main point is that we would be within one win of three of the four play-off places.

So, based on results so far this season, that scenario would benefit City.

Does anyone know whats happening the the supposed 10 points deduction? if they dont get it this year i can see them getting our the relegation zone. Only 6 points out of it.

It occurs when they exit administration. They have to before the end of the season or its goodbye. They have now been in administration for over a year and the Supporters Trust bid is floundering.

Not sure what your source is, Grendel. According to the Pompey Supporters Trust:
The Pompey Supporters' Trust moved a significant step closer to taking control of Portsmouth FC after exchanging contracts on Thursday [7 March]to buy the club out of administration in partnership with a number of individual investors. I think if they manage to avoid relegation they will get a 10 point deduction relegating them, if they would be relegated with or with out points deduction then I think the points deduction will kick in next season.
I read a comment from a pompy fan sayin effectively they are playing to start on 0 points in league 2

That sums it up pretty well. After a number of clubs entered administration after relegation was confirmed but before the end of a season, thereby making the points deduction worthless, the Football League amended their rules so that they alone - not the clubs - would decide when points deductions would apply.

I would expect - thought it's not set in stone - that if Pompey go down on merit the points will come off their League Two total. If they stay up, the points will come off this season. In this scenario, effectively, they need to survive by ten points plus goal difference to remain in League One - not happening.

This isn't a deduction for entering admin, it's for coming out of admin without a acceptable CVA and therefore will take effect when they come out of admin. FL have said they have to come out of admin this season or they're kicked out. The grey area is that there's no actual rule for this so they could well apply 'the spirit of the rules' as they did with Southampton which would result in it being applied next year.

Which makes you think Pompey fans must be pretty thick then, because after they beat us last week the SSN reporter from the ground had Pompey fans in the background all singing the theme to the Great Escape and he was saying Pompey fans believed that survival was still on.

They are 5 points from safety.

I can only assume they think there is a chance points will come off next season rather than this.

That is their only hope of avoiding relegation this year.

Why they think that though who knows.

Did the FL not say that they had to come out of administration by the end of the season or they'd be expelled from the League? Seems as though that club can get off Scot free and attract as much sympathy as it likes.

Maybe their fans are just thick then.

They look odds on for the drop anyway without the ten points off.

Just wish the season would be brought to a halt right now-it's sad to say but on pitch matters really aren't the most important thing for us as it stands.
